Monday - June 30

The last day of June and 2025 is now 1/2 over!    Crazy how fast time is passing by...life needs to S L O W down!    So, here it is the end of June, but for some of these Canadians, their season is just beginning - restaurants reopening, etc.

We left Port Elgin at 7:40 under sunny skies.    Wasn't long before the clouds rolled in and most of the 62 miles was very cloudy.    We arrived in Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula and the start of Georgian Bay at 11:00.    The Little Tub Harbour is where we'll be the next 2 nights.  Checked in with the office and then walked around the town - a very happening touristy place with many ethnic families especially Indian.   I remember the Canadians dress more conservatively than me (I'm a Florida girl now and like my pink, turquoise, etc.)    These folks wear black, white, grey, tan, brown, etc.   We also forgot that when getting fuel here in Canada, the owners and pets must be off the boat.   And its all about paper straws.

We've enjoyed the blog (diary) and reminisce of what we did, where we ate, etc. when we were in this area so many years ago....but I didn't start the blog till later in 2007, so no record from our last visit here in Tobermory,....although I have a very distinct memory of this town.   When we were here in 2007 on Sail Catrina, I bought a soft lime green hooded sweatshirt with "Tobermory" embroidered on the upper left side in bright pink.

I was wearing that hoodie on March 3, 2010 when we were hit by a car crossing the street in St. Petersburg, FL.   I'll never forget lying in the ER and hearing the nurses talking about cutting the sweatshirt off me as I had just been told I had fractured my shoulder so "how to get this off"?    I apparently fell asleep or given drugs to help with the pain cause when I woke up, I was in a hospital gown and the sweatshirt had been removed but was all intact!   I was so happy - some things you just don't forget!  😅

Welcome to Tobermory

We walked around and after Adam, the dockmaster gave his recommendations for lunch, decided on LTS (Little Tub Subs) - very good!

Later in the afternoon, we walked to the post office to mail some cards (1.95 + tax for 1st class here in Canada).  Guess I won't complain about .73 in the states soon to be .78.

When we got here this morning, it was very humid, but on our walk this afternoon, it turned really cool.   Stella's for coffee/ice cream was close by, so a hot latte hit the spot.   And finally the #1 priority for today was laundry at "Suds in the Tub".   We did 5 loads and pulled our collapsible wagon 5 blocks to get this task done.    Rain was threatening all afternoon, but missed us.

Mark noticed a tiki bar just down the dock, so we checked it out.    After our big lunch (subs), we wanted something light - drinks and an appetizer (chips + guacamole, mango salsa and regular salsa) hit the spot.   Coconut Joe's Bar and Grill was very popular!

It was an absolutely beautiful evening so a walk was in order.    I checked out a few shops while Mark waited in a long line for ice cream....but it was well worth the wait!   Lots of people out and about but not as busy as this afternoon.
