Fun weekend with the grandsons, Liam and ConnorWhile Mommy and Daddy were in New York for a wedding, we got to play at Grandma and Grandpa's house Connor loves to wear Grandpa's caps
The boys spent lots of time looking at all the pictures on Grandma's computer

March 26

We are "HOME SWEET HOME"........and here I am with Anne (daughter) and the little Darlin's, Liam 3 and Connor 20 months! What a wonderful winter in warm sunny Florida. And even though it's chilly here, this picture makes it all worthwhile to be home!

March 25

Meet Glenn and Brenda - long-time boating friends who now live in Kentucky! We had breakfast with them this morning and a great visit! Arrived in Clarksville, IN this afternoon and met Mark's sister, Sharon, niece, Sarah and nephew, Adam at Olive Garden for yummy dinner and then to Daisy for more chatter! Great way to end vacation cause tomorrow.........................HOME SWEET HOME!

March 24

Happy Birthday to Brady, our grandson in North Carolina who is 2 today! COLD in Tennessee when we left this morning and snow flurries off and on all day. Stopped in Hodgenville, KY and watched video and visited this site above. Ate lunch at the Laha Red Castle where they've been cooking up hamburgers for 65 years - just a tiny diner with a few stools and good food.
Tonight we are in Elizabethtown, KY at the Crossroads Campground.

Easter Sunday

HAPPY EASTER..............chilly here in Millersville, Tennessee where we're spending the night.

These pretty daffodils were at our campground in Cullman - sure enjoyed our time there and all around Alabama! Stopped in Athens for yummy Easter dinner at Cracker Barrel - not quite like Mom's, but very good! Tomorrow, back "on the road again" to Kentucky!

March 22

Ahhhhh...Springtime in Alabama is just oh-so-fresh & pretty! Drove thru the countryside today to Scottsboro and checked out the "Unclaimed Baggage Center" which just blew us away - sooooo much unclaimed "stuff" from airlines, trains and buses, along with freight and cargo. Unbelievable!!!!! If you're in this area, do stop in - you just won't believe it - been here for 35 years! Stopped in Gunthersville on our way back - neat little town with cute shops and good lunch at Jester's. Really neat seeing all the churches out in the country and they are EVERYWHERE! Stopped at the Cullman Flea Market, too....those are always an "experience"!!!

March 21

Another beautiful day and lo and behold...when we didn't think we knew anyone in Alabama, we got an e-mail from a mutual friend (who reads our blog) that we were close to where Myra and Herb live (25 miles). Afer a quick phone call, we did get together and what fun catching up. We had not been together since June, 1969 at our wedding. Also, met their daughter, 4 grandchildren and Myra's Mother. So.......here's Herb and Myra, very fun friends from waaaay back!!!
After leaving Herb and Myra, we drove to nearby Lewis Smith Lake and Dam (the 2nd largest earthen dam in the USA) - very large and impressive and beautiful lake. Off to Birmingham and enjoyed the spectacular views from Vulcan Park and the "Iron Man" (pictured above) overlooking Birmingham. Ended the day with Good Friday services at Sacred Heart in Cullman.

March 20

Cullman, Alabama Toured the Ave Maria Grotto at St. Bernard Abbey. Brother Joseph Zoettl, a monk at the Abbey built a huge display of replicas of various landmarks using materials from around the world over a 40-year period. Fascinating!!!!! We went to 4:00 Holy Thursday Mass at the Abbey and topped off the day with a wonderful dinner at "All Steak Restaurant", a long-time Cullman tradition featuring deeelicious orange rolls.

Happy Spring and what a glorious day here in Cullman with beautiful flowering trees, daffodils, and folks mowing their lawns!
Gorgeous dogwood and forsythia here at the Cullman Campground

March 19

Happy 6th Birthday to Davis, our grandson in North Carolina.

We stayed over another day in Montgomery as they were predicting storms and heavy rain. Got lots of rain this morning - we just stayed on Daisy till the skies cleared and then checked out Montgomery, had great pizza at Tomatino's and went to Publix for a few groceries!

Planning on Birmingham tomorrow......

March 18

It was a nice drive thru the countryside from the Just Loafin RV Park to Montgomery. I got a haircut, we ran some errands, browsed around Barnes & Noble and did some laundry.

Watching the radar for all the storms and praying they stay away from here and wherever YOU are???

Tomorrow, off to Birmingham...

St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patty's Day to all...this parade of turtles greeted us this morning in a little pond (full of lily pads) behind Daisy at Panama City Beach.

We are in Samson, Alabama at the "Just Loafin" RV Park (out in the country on a farm that had its pasture converted into 17 camp sites). The farmer who owns this property buys and sells old army vehicles and has quite a collection. There's lots of room to spread out, walk and once again, we're back in a very remote, serene setting with our own little pond nearby (and more lily pads). Tomorrow, onto Montgomery!

March 16

What a perfect "last day" in Florida. It was 81 degrees with a cloudless sky in Panama City Beach - we walked 7 miles along the beach and now know what spring break is all about (well, the beach scene anyway)???

Had a super lunch at Pineapple Willy's and the day was topped off with an awesome sunset. We're taking lots of great memories home from the Sunshine State!

Tomorrow...........Alabama, here we come!

March 15

Hello from Panama City Beach where we are in the midst of throngs of spring breakers and bumper-to-bumper traffic! We're definitely out of the serenity of the "Forgotten Coast" area!!!! And we're back in the Central time zone, so we'll gain back that hour of sleep we lost last weekend!!!

Hanging out here for 2 days with a close walk to the beach from our Raccoon River RV Campground

March 14

It's been raining all day here in Florida's panhandle. We stopped in Apalachicola for more browsing and a super lunch at "The Owl" (love this little town)! And then settled in at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park - lots of big and small RV's and tents!

Tomorrow we're off to Panama City and then back to cell phones and big-town stuff! We've enjoyed the laid-back lifestyle and serenity of "Florida's Forgotten Coast"

March 13

Sand dunes on St. George IslandSome unique beachfront rental property at St. George
After walking the white sugary beach on St. George, we drove onto Apalachicola and just when I thought there wasn't much shopping along "The Forgotten Coast of Florida"...whoaa, this little town was full of wonderful shops and also enjoyed a great lunch at Tamara's Cafe.
We stopped back on Daisy in Carrabelle late afternoon and then drove to Panacea for some seafood bisque and fried green tomatoes w/crab dressing at Angelo & Son's Seafood. This place is GREAT!!!

March 12

We are on the "forgotten coast of Florida" which lies along the Panhandle. The Ho Hum RV Park in Carrabelle will be Daisy's and our home till Friday. We walked the beach and just had a nice leisurely day with lunch at "2 Al's Beach Cafe". You just can't beat these local spots for good food and friendly folks!

March 11

Hello from the Holiday Campground in Panacea, FL - this is view we have of Ochlocknee Bay from Daisy.....just got back from thee best seafood platter dinner and key lime pie at Angelo & Son's Seafood Restaurant! It's raining now.....off to Carrabelle tomorrow.

March 10

Enjoyed a leisurely day in Crystal River - nice little town (and our first experience to have a soft-serve ice cream stand in the RV park)!!!! On the road again tomorrow.....

March 9

Cedar Key
It was a beautiful 66-degree sunny Sunday and we drove to Cedar Key. This is the 2nd oldest settlement in Florida (St. Augustine is #1). It's very quaint, laid back, artsy and "Old Florida". We had lunch at "Anne's Other Place" (good fish chowder) and this picture is looking down the main drag...

March 8

We moved Daisy to Crystal River this morning and will be in this area till Tuesday.

Spent the afternoon in Inverness with friends, John and Carolyn enjoying lunch at Stumpknockers and lots of chatter...

March 7

Thirsty elephants

Pat and Bob

Bob, Linda, Pat, Mark and beautiful flowers

The giraffes were great fun, even the grassy ones!

Very fun day at Busch Gardens - Tampa
Beautiful weather, great entertainment and not too crowded.

March 6

Met my brothers, Ron and Bob and sisters-in-law, Vicki and Linda in Tarpon Springs. We had a great Greek lunch at Hellas and then while the guys went on the "Spongeorama" Nature Cruise, we girls shopped! The rain, thunder and lightning came and cut their cruise short (bummer), but the shopping continued well into the afternoon.

I'm certainly doing my part in boosting the Florida economy as I eat and shop my way around the state! Life is GOOD!!!

March 5

Spring Break has arrived on Clearwater Beach!
We're staying in Port Richey till Saturday
Mark outside Frenchy's where we had a great lunch and then walked the beach!

March 4

We drove to Siesta Beach this morning - very windy and cool. Browsed around Barnes & Noble and then to Marker 4 for lunch in Venice.

A rainy afternoon was the best time to hunker down in Daisy for a nap and good book. Tomorrow, we're back "on the road again" heading north to Port Richey.

March 3

Happy Birthday to Mark's Mom! We had a fantastic 5-hour visit to the Ringling Museum of Art today. Here I am sitting in Mable's rose garden which won't be in full bloom for another month.

This was so fascinating to see and hear all about circus life, the lifestory of John and Mable Ringling and view their home, Ca'd'Zan (above). If you're in the Sarasota area, don't miss this!

March 2

It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday and we drove to Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and then spent the afternoon at St. Armand's Circle - Sarasota! Shopped and had delicious lunch at Columbia! Here's Mark in the park at St. Armand's talking to his Dad...

March 1

We are at the Arbor Terrace RV Resort in Bradenton till Wednesday. Believe it or not, we ate all our meals on Daisy today!!!!! But tomorrow, we'll be out and about ready to explore the Sarasota/Bradenton area, visit friends....and eat!!!
