Thursday - November 18

A rainy day in Florida.... we had breakfast, finished loading up the car and left around 9ish.    Drove downtown and first stop was Peter's for coffee and so glad to see they were opened as last 2 times, they were closed!      We sat and enjoyed reading the newspaper (don't do that very often), and then off to our 10:50 appt. at the tax collector office to apply for my new Blue Angel license plates.    So many people there for new drivers' licenses, plates, concealed weapon licenses, pay tax bills, etc., etc., etc.    We had about a 1/2 hour wait till we were called and an easy process to order.  The guy (like us) was not sure why they wouldn't let us do this online?     He said it could take 2 months till they arrive.

So at 11:30 we were off on Day 1 of travel to NC.    Mark decided we would head east instead of north and try to get away from all the rain predicted and avoid I-75.  A big back up of traffic in LaBelle so we took a different route thru Moore Haven.    Stopped in Okeechobee at Brown Cow (a favorite) for yummy lunch.    We each had the soup/1/2 sandwich (Mark, the lobster bisque and tuna sandwich and bacon cauliflower soup/chicken salad for me)!    Back on the road and the rain picked up the further east we drove.

Arrived in Titusville and settled in.  This summer on Catrina when our nephew Matt and girlfriend Kara visited, they were talking about  how much they love the spicy chicken sandwich from Popeyes.    We seldom eat there but tonight with the rain, it was convenient across the street.   We had a late lunch so shared the sandwich and some tenders.    All were very good!    Yeah for Popeyes!

Our grandson, Brady is a sophomore in NC and a few days ago, the school board voted to do away with the mask mandate.    That's the first school we've heard of doing that but happy for those kiddos.    Keep hearing masks can do more harm than good when worn for so many hours day after day!!!

Brooke sent out the menus for Thanksgiving and the weekend, so getting my thoughts together for what we're contributing.   Time to think on that tomorrow while traveling to Beaufort, SC.
