Walked this morning - another humid one BEFORE the rain came to really cool us down!
Today was the rodeo in Arcadia (94th annual and the "Granddaddy" of 'em all east of the Mississippi). We were here 2 years ago with Allie and Owen. About 6 miles out the skies darkened, the rain started and the winds were very strong. Ugly conditions with heavy rain and glad to find Allie and Owen. Big drop in the temperature. The plan had been to have lunch on the rodeo grounds (lots of choices) but with the cold, rain and wind, we suggested the Rose' Cafe a few miles away. Coffee hit the spot and we all enjoyed breakfast/lunch. Onto the rodeo and took a while to get in but parked, walked thru muddy areas and got to our seats. Joe, Joan, Jim and Lydia were there, but only saw Joan from a distance and Joe for just a bit at intermission.
Joe and Joan's daughter Lisa and John were to have the "reveal" today on what gender their baby will be. Grandma Joan was sooo sure it was a girl; but the big news is a baby "BOY" coming in July!
The nightmare was getting out of the parking lot afterwards - almost an hour. Just crazy.....it was a sold-out event today with 7,500 people. It started Thursday and ends tomorrow. We sure didn't have this problem 2 years ago? Had planned to have Mexican for dinner but when we got to Azul Tequila, lots of people standing outside the door (not like 2 years ago when we got right in). So......we said our good byes to Allie and Owen. We stopped at Culver's in Port Charlotte for supper (great walleye sandwich and cheese curds). Finally home around 7.,,,,,bad accident just as we got off interstate.
We are tired, but glad to be home and enjoyed the day - sure hope they resolve the departure from parking lot better for people coming tomorrow? What a mess!
Going to lose an hour of sleep tonight...and 41 by morning!
