Thursday - November 5

We arrived in Pensacola at 10:15, stopped at the Naval Museum for a little shopping and then onto Ryan's "boat" and our home for the next 5 nights.   It's very nice and spacious.   We settled in, had lunch at Jaco's (excellent restaurant here at the marina) and Mark worked on the dinghy in the afternoon.

 

This evening we went back to the Museum for a reception honoring the current Blue Angel team and all the other aviation performers for this upcoming homecoming weekend.

Wednesday - November 4

4th straight day of rain......Mark took Drew to school and we said our goodbyes to Brooke and rest of the clan.   Davis woke up with a bad sore throat and very croupy cough.    Drew has had a sore throat for past few days but nothing to slow him down.    We left at 8:30 and stopped in Shelby, NC at Hannah's Coffee House - what a cute spot and I got my latte (Autumn Harvest) fix.   We were in Shelby earlier this year and it is such a charming town.

 

Good day of travel despite the weather (drizzle off and on; and occasionally, the heavens really opened up, but fortunately that didn't last long).   Did see pretty fall color in North and South Carolina.   We stopped in Newnan, GA for lunch at Zaxby's.    Philip and Annette's friends live here.    They got engaged on Catrina and now have 3 little tots!

 

I drove for a while and around 2:20 in Alabama, the sun came out!   What a treat and lasted for rest of the trip.    We were ready for a break and decided to stop in Greenville, Alabama for the night.    Got settled and then walked (around 4 blocks) to Wal Mart for a few things - felt good to stretch the legs and enjoy the 82-degree temp.

 

Brooke had texted that Davis tested positive for strep throat.    She called later and said this is his very first time to get strep, but this particular strain is a new one and very serious.    It is running rampant there.   Brooke told us if we have any symptoms to go to the doctor ASAP.   Davis doesn't have a fever but is extremely tired.

 

Did face time with Anne, Liam and Connor...

Just 120 miles to Pensacola and Ryan and big weekend coming up!

 

 

Tuesday - November 3

Rain most of the day but mostly a drizzle....Michael was off very early this morning for San Francisco and then Bend, Oregon.    Mark took Davis and Brady to school, Brooke ran some errands and Blair, Grandma and Grandpa just hung out with more tea parties, dressing

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, singing, dancing, etc.

 

Got Daisy and Toad organized with the clothes and other stuff that we're taking with us for the next 3 weeks till we come back for Thanksgiving.    We'll be rolling out of here in the morning and heading to Pensacola.

 

Blair is a girl on the move, here, there and everywhere.   She doesn't sit still long enough to get some good pics, but here are a few....

With the past 3 days being so wet, Brooke sure brought on the good ole comfort food...

sweet 'n sour meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade chicken noodle soup, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

Monday - November 2

Rain Rain...go away, come again another day!    But don't think that's going to happen as it's been coming down since we arrived in NC yesterday with more predicted thru tomorrow....100%! chance   But, all is warm, cozy and dry on Bugle Lane or Daisy!
At least it's not real chilly as temps have been in the 60's.

 

 Brooke took Blair to the eye doctor (all is well).    Drew got a haircut in the afternoon and
 Mark and Michael went to Lake James.   

Blair and Grandma had some tea parties and I just enjoyed her so much.

Sunday - November 1

We left the campground at 7:50 AM and had just a very short glimpse of the sun before the majority of the day was very overcast with occasional misty rain.    Traveling thru Tennessee was absolutely spectacular with the fall color – can only imagine how extra special it would’ve been if the sun was shining on all those reds, oranges, golds, etc.    All this beauty continued on into North Carolina! 

Today is All Saints Day and the 40^th anniversary of my Grandpa Gallisath’s (Mom’s dad) death.   I can remember that day so well (11/1/75)   We were staying with my parents that weekend.   Mark was helping my Dad with the fall harvest and we had taken Michael and Anne (4) trick or treating the night before to a few homes in the country. 

For the most part, it was good traveling till we were 20 miles from Asheville and then the rain started and been ongoing rest of the way! 

Today was the last on-the-road show for the Blue Angels.    They are in Peachtree City, GA…..but today’s show was canceled due to very overcast and threatening weather – SAFETY FIRST!

We’ll be there for “Homecoming” next weekend in Pensacola!

Arrived at the kids/kiddies at 4:15 - yeah!!!   We got Daisy settled in the driveway for now thru Christmas.
