March 28

It's a rainy, stormy night in Yulee, FL where we stayed over another day. Drove to Kingsland , GA and had breakfast at The Waffle House, (Mark needed a waffle fix) then checked out St. Mary's (very historic town with lots of charm). St. Mary's is the gateway to Cumberland Island, a national seashore park with beautiful private beach and lush wilderness (largest and southernmost of Georgia's barrier islands, it is 18 miles long and 3 miles wide). It is intensely private and accessible only by ferry, private boat, or helicopter. This was the site of John F. Kennedy Jr.'s 1996 wedding nuptials. Hope we can visit this another time and spend the day exploring - sounds WONDERFUL!!!!

We did check out the marina and met the local State Farm agent, Kevin and his wife, Janice. And then back to Daisy and cleaned out closets and drawers, transferring things to the car (and getting Toad cleaned out and organized, too). Went to 6:00 Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea in St. Mary's and the had a wonderful dinner at "Lang's Marina Restaurant" - can't beat GOOD rock shrimp (tastes like lobster), crab, sweet potato fries and hush puppies and that delightful Georgia accent!

Pat: I have heard about Cumberland for years and always thought it would be nice to visit. Nan, Bob's sister, has been and I have another friend who worked for the University of GA and took groups there when it was just really, really rustic and no one had heard about this great private place. Judy
