Sunday - July 11

Lots of rain this morning starting around 3 AM.   Good time to sleep in and that we did.    It was very windy and cool along with the rain. Since the closest church was a mile and still raining at 9:30, we tried to get an Uber but none available so did the taxi bit and round trip was $40!    Ouch!    But a beautiful St. Peter and Paul Church with Father Monte Hoyles who is the pastor for 3 parishes here in Sandusky (also Holy Angels and St. Mary's).

Outside church for 10:00 Mass - the rain finally stopped
St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church - Sandusky, OH

At the end of Mass Father gave Pat and Bob a special blessing for their 50th wedding anniversary.    He also mentioned that the new assistant (parochial vicar) who was supposed to be coming from India has been delayed due to the pandemic and other embassy issues.   While the new priest shouldve been here it now could be several more months,  Nice to use a hymnal (brand new) for 1st time in well over a year.

Back to Catrina and prepared for our departure.   11:00 is the time to be out of Oasis Marina but due to the weather they said noon was ok.    We were very thankful we only had 1 mile to travel today cause we heard about various boats who tried going on to their next destination only to find conditions VERY ROUGH out on the lake and turned around.    We drove the boat from down below and happy it was a short trip!    Had 2 dockhands help settle us at Cedar Point Marina right in the heart of roller coasters and all the other rides.    We heard that the Jet Express ferry to the islands had shut down - now that's serious!

Mark checked into the office and then we walked to Famous Dave's (closest restaurant) and had lunch.    Food was good but extremely chilly inside - we all had jackets, but totally ridiculous!!!   Complained to the waitress but she said her supervisor likes it cold???

While I brought leftovers back to the boat, Mrak and kids went to check out the pool (not that we planned to swim today).   Blair took a little tumble walking across a short wall and got some abrasions on her leg.   So, we doctored her up and then took the shuttle bus around the park and got our bearings for where to go tomorrow for water park and then entrance to amusement park on Tuesday,    We saw the big campground and small cottages along the water.   While there seemed to be a lot of people and cars in parking lots, the driver said it was not that busy obviously due to the weather.

Carowinds (NC grandsons love this place) in Charlotte is owned by same company as Cedar Point and this year is the 150th anniversary for Cedar Point which is the roller coaster capital of the world with 18 of these crazy rides!   Amazing to see the large variety but again, NO thank you!

Waiting for the shuttle

Quiet afternoon resting and then game time and happy hour with more goodies.

Grandpa came out the winner after a vicious game of WAR

After supper we studied the map of the park and checked which rides (water park) we thouight we would want to do tomorrow (have to check height requirements).   We played 2 rousing games of rummikube (Luke's 1st time) and then the kiddos watched "Yoohoo to the Rescue".

Showtime on Sunday night with popcorn!

Since we were into game time, missed the sibling zoom time.    Our day ended with a nice display of fireworks - I think that's a nightly occurrence here at the park.    Have a good week!
