It was a very big day at Cedar Point as we walked across the street to a special entrance just for the boaters and ferry passengers – can’t beat this nice perk! We walked around and checked out the various rides. The kiddos rode several before the drizzle started. We put on our raincoats and had about a 2-hour off and on nuisance rain with a little heavier at one point. But we didn’t melt – and good time to get a snack (Auntie Anne pretzel) and these kiddos really do have an “Auntie Anne”.
The rest of
the day in the park turned out to be really nice weatherwise – we did wait 45
minutes to ride the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
This was ranked #16 from the wildest (#1) to the mildest. #17 and 18 were not operating. Blair and I went together with Grandpa and
Luke in seat behind us. As I’ve said
many times, I do NOT like roller coasters but geez, this can’t be that
bad? Blair begged to go on a roller
coaster because everyone in her family has ridden one, so………….away we went! It doesn’t go upside down but a lot of
jerking and quick right and left sharp curves.
When the ride was finished (2 minutes, 50 seconds), Blair and I both
agreed, we did not like it!!! Luke in
the meantime, was grinning from ear to ear (surprise, as he’s Mr. Cautious),
but glad he had a good experience. So,
checked that off the list and onto the Ferris wheel. Luke wanted no part of that ride but
Grandma loves this ride (it was a big one) and Blair wanted to try it. Another long wait in line (the Ferris Wheel
was shut down off and on cause of high winds). It was fun and the views were
spectacular.
We found the
Tofts Ice Cream shop – YES…..but it was much smaller and had nowhere near the
51 flavors that Port Clinton had. Blair
was disappointed that they didn’t have Unicorn Dream, but both enjoyed Cotton
Candy. Grandpa had butter pecan and I
had buckeye bites.
Blair and I
rode the cable cars (Grandma loves this, too, and Blair really enjoyed
it). Luke decided he wanted to ride
it, too, but darn, just as we got there, they closed it down cause of high
winds and it never reopened the rest of the day.
These kids
love the Arcade so we spent a chunk of time there and they both had tickets,
tickets, so many tickets! Grandpa fed
them thru the machine and then time to choose their prizes! Back to the boat with the sky looking
ominous. Grandpa called in an order
for pick up at Famous Dave’s and just like that, the heavens opened up and we
had a torrential downpour with strong winds.
Fortunately, it only lasted 4 ½ minutes, the sun came out and the
temperature dropped but it was a “dry” walk for Grandpa to get our supper.
Grandpa and
I were exhausted (but a happy tired) as it had been an 8-hour day of constant
go go go and we covered a lot of tracks! We still had packing to do and gather up all
their stuff which was scattered hither and yon around Catrina. Early to bed for all as tomorrow is another
big day!
Here are just a few pics of many I took today
