Sunday - January 1

Very foggy start to the day but cleared off by 9ish.    Nice to sleep in a bit and then off to 11:30 Mass at St. Francis.    We drove the kiddos past some of the devastated areas and saw so many boats still toppled over on land.   Had breakfast in the sunshine at Ford's Garage downtown.    We had only been seated a short time when sirens and police cars descended upon us and officers got out of their cars with hands on their guns.    They were right to the side of Ford's Garage and supposedly someone had reported 7 people down and an active shooter in the area..................oh my heavens.    What a way to start the new year.    Some guy wearing a white tank top with a very colorful backpack that said "cookies" on it was reportedly walking around talking on the phone and acting strange.   He went into Ford's Garage and was asking weird questions.    They searched the area for him but haven't heard anymore - we'll see what the news brings later today.    Scary to say the least - one of the officers had his assault rifle drawn....

Police issued a report this afternoon and called this incident "swatting" which means a criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service into sending a police or emergency service response team to another address.....all a hoax and false alarm!  Arghhh

So.....this term swatting (new to me since last spring) is such a sad scary situation - what a sicko!!    Sure hope they catch the person responsible!!!

On home, changed clothes and the guys took off for Eastwood golf course and the driving range.   Then to Dick's Sporting Goods and finally ice cream, of course!!!  😉

Anne and I walked in the afternoon and watched the boys swim.    Good to see Tim and Lori back in the park as they've been absent for 2 years cause of covid and other health issues.

Mark grilled hot dogs and brats for supper plus mac 'n cheese and baked apples.   Topped off with ice cream and brownies.

Beautiful evening in the park
