Saturday - January 18

Spectacular day in the Keys.......sunshine, breezy and upper 60's.    First thing we heard when we stepped outside this morning was about the big fire just up the street from us which destroyed Salty's Bar and Grill - a popular place here in Marathon.    Along with just the shell remaining, two boats and a car are charred    This happened at 3 AM and we heard nothing!!!

Rode our bikes to the bridge and this takes us right past the scene!
Lots of people, traffic backed up, etc.

We girls shopped and the guys went to some of the lower keys (got into major traffic).    We were on the hunt for some FL décor for Allie's new condo, but no luck.     We sure had fun, though and then enjoyed a great lunch at Key Fisheries (grouper Reuben).   The guys had lunch at Baricci's which is always so good!.

Jane and I taught Allie how to play dominoes and it was so pleasant sitting around the pool.

The guys joined us and later in the afternoon we went to Lazy Days and had supper and watched the sunset.     Great way to end a very enjoyable day.

Did face time with Michael and the"B's" (Brady and Blair).   Brooke has the "D's" (Drew and Davis) in Knoxville for a basketball tournament.    They are one win away from the championship!

Tomorrow morning at 7 AM....our small, but mighty Connor will be goalie at the boys hockey game!!!   Good luck, guys!!!

My parents were together for 71  1/2 years - today would have been their
75th wedding anniversary!!!

Friday - January 17

Nippy out this morning, but got our exercising out of the way in the sunshine!    I got a manicure and then we went for a bike ride - breezy and low 60's today.

Allie and Owen drove to Marathon from North Port and after settling into their hotel, came over - sooo good to see them.   Jane and Joe came and we stayed indoors Daisy (bummer we couldn't be outside, but only 61 at the time)!    Lots of catching up and laughs.    We all enjoyed dinner at Castaways....very good and FUN time!

Welcome back to Marathon, Allie and Owen

Thursday - January 16

Very enjoyable day with the kinfolk......Jane and I left at 7:30 to drive to Sunny Isles (north of Miami) to visit my cousin, Karen, her Mom (Aunt Dee from Daytona Beach) and Marvin.    And we had the bonus of Annette and Luke joining us from Lake Worth.

Along with lots of chatter, catching up and reminiscing, we had lunch at The Peppermill which was very good.    Luke was a really good boy and so fun to show him off!

Here are some memories....

Mark and Joe went to breakfast at The Wooden Spoon and then each had a leisurely day doing their own thing!!!!   Mark got a bike ride in and some walking.
It was chilly and VERY windy....but the sun was shining brightly!

Wednesday - January 15

Woke up to nice, sunny skies and got the exercising out of the way, but then the clouds rolled in, the front went thru, winds picked up and it cooled down.....we wimps started out for a bike ride, but skies looked threatening and needed a sweatshirt, so....came on back to Daisy.

Did some cleaning on Miss Daisy, went for a short walk at the marina and later drove to Baricci's for late lunch.    This was a favorite of ours from past 2 years and oh my.........still sooo good under new ownership!   Ran a few errands and back to hibernate - rain may miss us?

Today would've been Mark's parents 68th wedding anniversary!
And 3 cousins all share this day for their birthday!

Tomorrow Jane and I are driving to Sunny Isles to visit and have lunch with our cousin, Karen and her Mom (my Aunt Dee) who is visiting from Daytona Beach.
AND.....Annette and Luke will be joining us!

Luke is all excited he's going to see his Grandma tomorrow!!!!!

Tuesday - January 14

Beautiful sunny, breezy day!   Rode bikes to the bridge, but decided to head back north as winds were strong.    Had a nice ride to Publix and back and stopped at the post office to get a big supply of stamps before the rates go up on the 26th to .49.

Jane and Joe came over in the afternoon and we played euchre!

Mark and I splurged and had our first stop at Savannah's Sweet Shop for cupcakes, ice cream and all the toppings - oh-so-delicious.    Sat outside in the courtyard and visited with a couple from KY.

Back to Daisy and sat outside and read....then enjoyed a nice visit with our neighbor, Graham from Greensboro, NC
