THE BLUE ANGELS
Another fun day in Annapolis with the Blue Angels, the star attraction! We left Ego Alley around 8:50 and headed out to the Severn River to anchor out. We had a great spot directly across from the Naval Academy and in front of some lovely homes with tents set up in their yards, Navy and Blue Angel flags flying and people galore! It's party time!
Around 10:00, 2 helicopters were flying over the river and Academy - they landed and one picked Ryan up and they flew over the "center point" of where air show would take place and positioning of the warship.
Ryan is checking out "center point" with Navy pilots.
Hundreds of boats were anchored out and at exactly 11:00, the Blues came roaring thru the skies and did their practice routines. The practice show started at 2:00. We could see Ryan (with binoculars from across the way), but couldn't hear him. Planning to walk to the academy tomorrow and watch the show and hear our boy!
Yesterday when we were with the pilots (3 are Academy grads) and cruising past the Academy, Dave gave us a narration of which building was which and described what we were seeing.
Commissioning Week in Annapolis is comparable to Mardi Gras in New Orleans - $2m in revenue is expected to come in from shelter food and souvenir sales. Whereas Mardi Gras has beads, flags are all over this city - Navy or Blue Angels and the signs in shops and restaurants are all about "Welcome Blue Angels"!!! This special week in May is something Mark and I hope we can be part of in 2015-2016 when Ryan is on the flight demonstration team! Doesn't get any better than this!!!

Mainly cloudy all day, but late afternoon, the sun came out! We are now staying at the Yacht Basin for the next 2 nights - gave Catrina a soaking and scrubbing and enjoying this pretty evening!
We walked downtown and had dinner at The Federal House - another delicious meal (I really don't think there is anything "not" good to eat in this city)! I had Maryland crab soup and crab flatbread pizza - wonderful!!! Mark had yummy beef tenderloins. We walked around town (lots of people out and about) and stopped at Kilbey's for ice cream (me) and JoJo's Cupcakes (Mark).
Dinner last night at Pusser's Landing
My entrée last night - bacon-wrapped shrimp skewers with veggies, rice and fresh pineapple
