Life is Good cruisin' on Catrina
Arrived in Rochester at Corn Hill Landing on the Genesee River at noon. We are the only boat here but nice condos, and some restaurants. Got Catrina all settled and off we went to the Park Avenue Art Fest which John had told us about. We walked 1.3 miles to the corner of Alexander and Park where it all started and departed ways with Drew and Sarah.
Park Avenue Fest is a 2-day affair in a very eclectic neighborhood of beautiful old well-kept homes, restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Lots of tall old trees line the street which today was filled with over 350 vendors and every imaginable food item you could think of! Lots of people but with a length of 1.2 miles, it was never that crushing feeling of body to body.
So many colorful porta potties and clean, too!!!!
It was a beautiful day - really hot, but at some point, we felt sprinkles and then heard thunder and took cover on a big covered porch. Rang the bell and asked if we could hang out on their porch till the rain stopped. The young gal said "sure"......and then the rain came - torrential downpour. Of course we wondered where do all these people take cover? We sat on the porch a good 15-20 minutes and chatted with the owner of the house (it's for sale) who was nice to visit with and share stories (he's a boater, too, and wants to move to FL).
So, the rain stopped and off we went to finish the end of the route. Along the way, we enjoyed the usual obligatory festival/fair food - lemon shake-up, corn dog and BBQ cup (pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans and Mexican corn)!
Before we got to the end (Culver Street), cousin John caught up with us. So nice of him to brave the throngs and come meet us. We walked all the way back to Alexander where it all began. Said our good byes to John. We sure enjoyed hanging out with him and the family off and on the past few weeks!
1 more pic of the cousins
Drew and Sarah just happened to be near a coffee shop when they heard thunder, so ducked in there, got a table and enjoyed coffee (Sarah) and smoothie (Drew) as the rain pelted down.
The rain did cool things off, but only temporarily cause when the sun came out - whew... HOT!!!
Mark and I arrived back on Catrina at 4; the kidddos at 4:30. They spent some $$ (other than for their tummies like us).
After a short rest and showers, we had a fabulous dinner at Tony D's nearby.....Mark and Drew had filets and possibly their best ever!!! Sarah and I were happy, too....
GREAT dinner at Tony D's and end to a fun day! 15, 919 steps
