Tuesday - December 22

Sunny Tuesday!    Mark had appointment with Sandy, his doctor's NP at 8:00.    She said to continue the exercises but to go slow and ease into them.   He has prednisone to take as a back-up if things don't improve sooner rather than later!

We had a cinnamon braid pastry from the boys hockey team fund raiser for breakfast.    They are sooo yummy.    I did Facebook Messenger video chat with Allie (Florida) and Jane (Peoria).     We had not done this since April, but were able to get together in October on a cold, windy day in East Peoria.    Great seeing these dear friends (and cousin, Jane) and catch up.

After lunch we took 2 loads of laundry to the laundromat here at the hotel.    Since they have 2 machines, we could get them done quick and I now have more mobility to handle clothes, fold, etc.    So, that's done and we also checked out the lobby restrooms which were remodeled - oh my.......beautiful!!!

Back home with our laundry, put it all away and played 3 games of euchre with the Marks' beating Nancy and me 2 of 3 games.

I had a nice surprise phone call this afternoon from a long-time friend, Joe who is a very young "94".   He had heard I had shoulder surgery so was calling to see how I was doing!    Made my day!

The computer tech called this afternoon saying my new computer battery was in.    So, we also had a letter to mail.....I was the chauffeur and Mark mailed the letter and then we dropped off the computer.    He said it would only take 20 minutes, so we drove around our old neighborhood, past Jackson Street and our old house.     So many memories!!!    Felt good to drive and get back in that groove.

Zoom with Claire and Kathy and wishing each other the Merriest of Christmases - till next week!

This afternoon we got a text from Eastland Suites office inviting us to a little party from 5-7 and a big "thank you" for "sticking" with them during this time.    After Zoom, we walked to the beautiful new "Deep End" bar (former swimming pool).     We could have anything we wanted to drink and each guest was given a little bag of goodies -  pen, candy, licorice, chocolate covered pretzels, etc.   There were around 12 people there, spread around.   We got our drinks and left.

Morgan, the assistant general manager talked to us and thanked us for staying with them - 6 years and she was here when we started this back in 2015.     We told her what a great job they had done with the remodel of the bathrooms, the new bar and dining areas.    She said starting in 2022, they will be remodeling and updating our Building 9 - yeah!!!

Blair and her Mommy were having a little baking marathon this afternoon....

"Crack"
Melt butter brown sugar and pour over saltine crackers.   Melt chocolate on top and spread.   Also can use white chocolate with crushed peppermint.    Refrigerate and then break into pieces!

But this is the BEST part....
