August 5

Up and going with the boys - they had waffles and blueberries and enjoyed all the pictures on the computer of themselves with the mascots last night at the ballgame.

 Mark took them to Nancy's and I went to Dr. Ocheltree for the ears.   After a good chat (his son was classmates with Michael and Anne) and catching up with our families, he got to work with his instruments (sharp, pointy things) and used a strong suction to "vacuum" out all the crud!   My ears are clean as a whistle - yippeeeee!

My friend Brenda has just completed radiation for breast cancer, so we had a great lunch at Swinger's to celebrate!

I got a manicure/pedicure in the afternoon and then stopped at the hospital to see my friend, Anita and her husband Russ - a time for hugs and tears...many thoughts and prayers are with them as they go thru a very difficult time.

I wanted you to meet my therapists who have been dealing with me since April 23rd.    They are a great bunch and I wouldn't be where I am with the shoulder if not for these folks.

August 4

Another scorcher today.   I had therapy at 8:30 with Jim and progress is definitely being made.    He did measurements and I've improved in all areas of mobility!    The past few days, though, my shoulder has been really achy and sore and Jim laughed and said "everyone is complaining of the same thing"!    Darn humidity is wrecking havoc on the ole bones!

I went to Claire's for coffee, yummy pastries and fruit.   We had our usual non-stop chatter and then I left for lunch with Exchange Club.    Mark had dermatologist appointment (should be the end of doctor check-ups for him for awhile).

Picked Liam and Connor up from their sitter and we went to the Cornbelter's baseball game - fun and especially neat for the boys to see all the mascots (14) as they were celebrating "Corny's" 1st birthday!    Corny is the official mascot for the Cornbelter's.    This was our first visit to the brand new ballpark and it was quite impressive with good food choices and just a lot of fun stuff going on.    Here are some highlights:

And while we were doing a ballgame on the local scene, Michael was in Boston tonight at Fenway Park.  Imagine he really enjoyed himself!

August 3

Extremely hot and humid day...I ran some errands this morning, fixed BLT's for lunch (Mark's very favorite) and then got a haircut this afternoon.

Mark had his yearly physical and we just stayed indoors most of the time.   I made a blueberry/peach cobbler and delivered some to Marty, next door and to Liam and Connor.    They seem to be feeling better tonight - there is a lot of crud going around in the form of sore throats, fevers, earaches, etc., etc.   Loved the sweet corn, tomatoes and pork chops for supper - I'm starting to get back in the swing of "cooking" and familiarizing myself with the kitchen!!!

August 2

We left Ottawa around 9:00 and stopped for some sweet corn and tomatoes (yum) at a fruit/vegetable stand along the way.  

Mark had a dentist appointment - I did some laundry and then went for a walk (got to get back into that routine)!    Visited with Candy (backyard neighbor and met her niece who is visiting from FL).    Our Monday Night Friends met for supper/dessert at State Farm Park, but only 3 of us tonight (Brenda, Tamara and myself).

I've been having some ear issues that just won't go away - everything sounds muffled and occasional pain.  After my doctor appointment on Friday and having the irrigation done, and since that time, using ear drops and more irrigating and the candle wax method, I still have quite a wax build-up and possibly an infection.   So....enough is enough and Thursday, I'm going to an ENT doctor!   

Liam and Connor have been sick with sore throats/fevers, etc.    Please get well soon, sweet boys!!!

Exciting happenings in Mark's family....we have 3 weddings coming up and 5 new babies due between now and February!   Yeah!!!

August 1

Very foggy this morning, but then burned off and turned out to be a nice sunny, summer day!   We went to 9:30 Mass at St. Patrick's and then did a Wal-Mart run for piddlies at home and on Catrina.

Had a late lunch at Crawdad's and just a leisurely day reading, doing computer stuff, etc.    Took a ride late afternoon and had nice cream treats at Triple J.   

Chatted with Ryan tonight - he's leaving later this week for 3 weeks on the USS Nimitz in Hawaii.    We will sure miss him next weekend at his cousin's wedding in St. Louis...
