Tuesday - October 6

A correction to yesterday's blog - the Nafziger Family Farm where I visited Monday with Martha was founded in 1854 - typo there and a big difference of 40 years!  

 

Brenda, Sue and Claire picked me up at 10 and we were off to Mackinaw (about 20 minutes away from Kamp Komfort).   I haven't been here (Depot Tea Room and Gift Shop) and the Porcelain Berry in several years.    Well, it was just as neat as ever.....great shopping and lunch was excellent!

After another chilly, dreary start to the day, around 3:00, the sun came out and warmed up to 71!

Just a beautiful afternoon for a stroll around the campground.

 

Mark is enjoying helping Bob....home tomorrow.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday - October 5

Today was fun and busy......Mark left at 7:30 for Sublette and help Bob with the farming.   I went into town, stopped at Meijer's, had breakfast with the Monday Morning group, therapy with Lee and lunch with Martha at the Carlock Family Restaurant.   

 

Always fun to visit with Martha and that we did over our grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.   Then to the farm where Martha grew up and has been in her family since 1854 (6 generations).   Today started out foggy, dreary and cool, but the sun came out when Martha was giving me the tour (her brother and sister-in-law live there now).   Sooo pretty and pleasant out on the country.

 

 I came back to Daisy and caught up on computer stuff and read.

 

Somebody else was out in the country today with his Mommy and Grandpa...

Tonight, the Sublettians (Central IL Chapter) met at The Busy Corner.    Ann picked me up and we had our usual fun outing of catching up, laughs and good food (pie, too)!

Sunday - October 4

Cloudy, chilly and windy for most of the day, but around 4:15, the sun came out and what a treat!

 

We went to 10:00 Mass at Holy Trinity and then met friends, Don and Cathy for breakfast/lunch at Destihl.   Their breakfasts (only about 7 or 8 choices) are phenomenal.....definitely a place to return  to as it's always a favorite lunch spot.

Got my car washed and on "home".    Vacuumed the car and got suitcases out and started packing for our trip later this week to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Hawaii.  We leave Thursday.    So excited to see our friends, Paul and Kathy who are coming from Texas and of course,

Ryan and the Blue Angels.

 

Anne and family drove to Milwaukee today for the last game of the season between the Cubs and Brewers won by the Cubbies 3-1.    They had a great day and really impressed with Miller Park.

And now it's onto Pittsburgh and the playoffs Wednesday night!!!

Mark is leaving in the morning for Sublette and helping my brother, Bob for a few days with the harvesting.

 

 

Saturday - October 3

Chilly, blustery, cloudy day with a high of only 59.    A leisurely morning on Daisy.  I made sausage, eggs and toast for breakfast and around 11, we went into town and to the storage unit.   Been trying to find our sweaters for winter.    After much searching thru bins and boxes, we found them in the trunk (right where I usually store them).   Brooke and Michael will eventually be getting this and of course, it was put way in front of all the stuff.   But we found 'em and got everything put back in even better order!

 

Darrel and Tamara were hosting the Monday Night Friends and grandchildren for a wiener roast and hayrack ride.    Only 5 of our gals came, but with husbands, kids, grandkids and friends made for a really fun late afternoon/evening.    Darrel took us on a fun ride around the country roads and then we enjoyed a huge, wonderful array of good eating!

 

Over a roaring fire (even with the strong winds), we enjoyed our hot dogs and s'mores.

There were 21 of us total - great time in the country!

Friday - October 2

Another winner in the weather department....started out really chilly but warmed up to the mid 60s with blue skies and strong winds!

 

Mark ran some errands; I went to town for therapy....massage, ultrasound, traction.   I think (at times) that the neck is a tad better, but don't want to jinx this!!!   

 

I had a few errands afterwards and then to Biaggi's for lunch with PEO gals.    We (12 of us) went to Sue Ellen's home and strolled thru her GORGEOUS backyard for a photo session 

 "skipping a stone" into her lovely pond.

 

Back to Daisy around 3 and made a pasta salad for tomorrow's wiener roast and hayrack ride - taking Liam and Connor to the country (Darrel and Tamara's home) with other

Monday Night Friends and families.

 

Tonight we drove to Toluca and met Philip, Annette, Luke and her parents, Dave and Judy at Mona's for family-style chicken with salad, garlic bread, chicken, French fries, spaghetti, tortellini and wine!   All delish!!!

So fun to all be together.

And.....Annette, Luke ,Dave and Judy are going to join us tomorrow for the wiener roast.   Philip has to fly back to FL and that darn thing called "work"!!!
