Saturday - December 5

Nice day but colder than yesterday with a biting wind!    Patrick joined the boys and me for breakfast in the dining room.   Then they went their merry way with the big task of building an outdoor ice skating rink in their backyard.   

 

Bring on the COLD weather!

 

I came back home for awhile and then ran a few errands and got a vaccination at the CVS Minute Clinic for DPT - when Mark went for his physical, our doctor mentioned that whooping cough is back...and the cough can last for a long time.   Dr.'s Mother had it for 9 months!   No thank you!   It had been 11 years since I had a tetanus shot, so it was time and hopefully prevent any

whooping cough!

 

Mark called around 2 and said he was taking an earlier flight to Peoria - I drove over and picked him up and he was home much earlier and didn't have to take the bus.    So.....he asked if I would like to stop for pie at Busy Corner?    Duh....sure!   Let's do it!   We are sooo baaaad!    Sure hit the spot this Saturday afternoon along with cups of hot tea.   He had coconut cream and I had triple berry (warm).

He got everything accomplished he wanted to do on Catrina.....sometime over the winter, new engines will be installed!    Hope 'n pray, THEN....we can get back to some boating!

Wrapped a few gifts tonight and just hanging out!  

Friday - December 4

Bright beautiful sunshiny day in the 50's!    Was great to be out and about!    Mark left around 8:15 to catch the bus to take him to O'Hare.   He's in Annapolis tonight and had planned to have dinner at the Chart House (a favorite of ours).    Would you believe they were closed for a private party!   This is a big place, so must've been a BIG party!!!    Tomorrow he will drive to Tracy's Landing, MD and do some things on Catrina and planning to catch a late afternoon flight back to Chicago and then bus it on home!

 

I met Marta (Marty and Angie's daughter who grew up next door) for coffee at Dunkin' Donuts.   We had not been together for a LONG time....so really enjoyed our visit!    Then to the mall for me to walk 3 rounds (working my way to 5).   Shopped a little afterwards, ran some errands and then home.    Left at 12:45 for Westminster Village where the PEO ladies were having a tea and auction.    What fun with some very nice gifts being offered and certainly a very successful $ raiser.    It was a   festive afternoon with some very special ladies! 

 

  I picked Liam and Connor up from school, took them home to change clothes and get their overnight stuff.    They are staying with me tonight while Grandpa is gone, their Mom is on her cruise and their Dad has a gig.    We had snacks, played golf (card game), went to Olive Garden for dinner and then swimming at the hotel.    We are now settled in our room with a nice fire going, the boys are sweet 'n clean after their showers and we're just hanging out!

Thursday - December 3

Dreary cold day - sun was supposed to shine, but didn't happen!    Good productive day though.....I had early therapy (7:15) with Lee and was there 1 hour; 45 min.    Thorough evaluation, measurements, massage, ultrasound, traction and finally setting up 3 sessions a week for all of December!    Whew.....out of there and met Mark doing laundry (sure appreciated that as I did not expect to be gone that long.)    So....we brought the laundry back home and then off to the mall to walk.    We really prefer to get there earlier in the day as not so many walkers and shoppers.   The closer to Christmas, the busier it will be!

 

We had plans to have lunch with John and Linda, long-time friends and former neighbors (our kids all grew up together).    Linda called while we were walking and sounded miserable with a very bad cold and sinus infection.   She wanted to cancel and we will reschedule.

 

So, Mark and I went to Biaggi's - ALWAYS delicious!  Back home and caught up with e-mails, reading (I'm now in the Patterson book "Justice" - sooo good).    Nice to be home tonight and had some yummy corn chowder.

 

Anne left this morning for FL and going on a 3-day cruise to the Bahamas with her friend, Sue from Phoenix.   Hope they have a fantastic time!

 

Patrick was rear ended this morning taking the boys to school - arghhh.   No one was hurt but now the car needs fixing!   The boys will have a sleepover tomorrow night with Grandma as Patrick is playing with his band "Jury's Out".

 

Mark is leaving in the morning for Chicago and then flight to Baltimore and check on the boat in Tracy's Landing, MD.   He'll be back late Saturday night.

 

Update on the neck....been taking Neurontin (actually the generic - gabapentin) for 3 weeks and now up to 3x a day.  It's better, but still have that occasional shooting pain up into my head and hurts to turn head to either side.    With all the measurements, I had regressed in a few areas.....arghhh!   Lee did some adjustments to my at-home therapy, so.....we shall see!

 

 

 

Wednesday - December 2

Snow showers off and on all day.....we exercised and then went to the mall and walked.   I brought Mark back home and I ran some errands and got a manicure.

 

Wrapped more presents and just enjoyed a quiet afternoon with the fire going and Christmas tunes playing as the snowflakes swirled all around!   Mark was a happy camper sacked out on the couch reading a good book (James Patterson's "Justice" in the Alex Cross series).

We took a bunch of presents to storage this afternoon cause there will be curious eyes here Friday night when the boys come for a sleepover with Grandma.  
 Grandpa is going on a quick trip to check on Catrina in MD.

Mark and I went to the Ozark House for dinner tonight - Christmas party with my former Exchange club friends     Great friends (some we hadn't seen in a long while) and a delicious dinner made for a very fun evening!

Tuesday - December 1

HAPPY SWEET 16 DREW !!!

Congrats!   It's official!

 

We left Greensburg around 8 and nice to gain back that hour when we got back into IL.    It was a rainy few hours of driving, but finally the last 1.5 hours we had sunshine!   Chilly and windy with a high of 45.

 

We had lunch at Panera and then checked into our suite (got the same one we had before) and put away our stuff.    Then off to storage to get more stuff and onto the grocery store.   

 

Met Anne, Patrick and boys at Caffe Italia for delicious dinner and good visit.  

 

 

 

GOOD to be HOME!
