August 4

A much clearer, blue-sky day with much-better driving conditions on the Alcan Highway. We enjoyed a very scenic trip in the Yukon Territory with trees, trees and more trees, along with pretty lakes, meadows, etc. Stopped for lunch at The Dawson Peaks Resort & RV Park in Teslin and had some awesome burgers!Enjoyed touring the Teslin Tlinget Heritage Museum - these totem poles represent different animals of nature that they want to pattern their life after.Arrived in Watson Lake and staying at the Downtown RV Park - this little town is known for its "Sign Forest" which started in 1942 with folks nailing up a sign to tall wooded posts and there are now over 61,000 signs. City names, street names, distances, people names and just any ole name - it's a huge maze to wander thru and check if anything was familiar (yes!) The signs were from all over the world (primarily, the states) and you could easily spend a day or two and probably not see them all! Got a few groceries and then while we were sitting outside Daisy....another "Daisy" (blue) pulled up beside us from Charlotte. Had a nice chat with Alex and Brenda who are on their way home, too!

Pat: A small small world to have someone right next to you with an RV just like yours except only blue and then they were from Charlotte to boot. Guess you told them all about your family in NC and I am sure they know about Hickory. Glad the weather has gotten clearer. What Provinces are you going to travel through going home and what states?
