Wednesday - April 11

A dreary, chilly morning when we said good-bye to Ryan....we left DC at 9:20  after breakfast at The Harbor Café.    Mark did the heavy-traffic route from DC past Richmond.   I drove for 2 hours and then stopped for lunch at Chick-Fil-A in Durham.

Mark drove another hour and then I went rest of the way to Lake James.    The sun eventually came out and the redbud (have always wondered why they call this redbud when it's a pretty purple?) were so abundant and beautiful in VA and NC,    A lot of trees had budded out in NC since we left Sunday.   It was a very pretty afternoon.

Arrived at Luke and Maeve's house at 5.   Unloaded the truck, had some drinks and settled in.    We both caught colds so tired and not feeling totally up to par.    Philip left before we got here for a week of work - flying and instructing.

Maeve hanging out in the bathroom with a snack and I-pad.
