Saturday - June 18

The winds were very strong thru the night and all day AND, shifted to the northeast SO....the mayflies are back bigger and worse than ever.    So after I was so happy with our very clean boat yesterday.......today is a whole different story!

Mark used the shop vac blower to make them scatter, but they'll probably be back tonight
or bring some friends!   All depends on wind direction.  Using the hose really makes a mess!
Disgusting

I made sausage, eggs, fruit and toast, Mark kept up with the blowing of bugs and on with the day - in light of all that's going on in our world, this is NOT a biggie - just a nasty nuisance!

Yesterday we enjoyed the 80's after 2 hot steamy days in the 90's.    Today....we barely made it to 70!    Crazy....ahhh, but the heat is coming back next week!

Was so good to hear from Michael early this morning that he was in Atlanta and waiting for last leg of his long journey to home!

We walked downtown to Coffee Express for coffees and shared a delicious piece of crab/Swiss quiche with cluster of grapes.    LOVE this place for their coffee, pastries, breakfast and lunch.     All along our walk, the mayflies had attacked everything!

So Mark googled mayflies and got a bit of history how they come from Africa and there are trillions (3,000x the world's population).    They are especially attracted to large bodies of water and on and on the story goes.    But what is a nuisance for us, in Africa, they are a delicacy and considered high in protein.    Michael said he did not see mayflies on the menu!    Ha
😀

I washed the inside of Catrina's windows (the 8 that are tinted plexiglass) a few days ago, but Catrina is now 17 years old and there is a film/haze that makes for a very cloudy look.    Mark googled how to restore plexiglass and wow, he got some products (3 different grades of sandpaper and polish) and wah lah........unbelievable the difference!    He's a keeper!  😃
How did we ever survive without Google?    If we replaced these windows, they are over $600 each!!!

Last night we heard about a video out on YouTube about Frank Weisser and his connection to Top Gun Maverick.    Frank was a Blue Angel and flew with Ryan (2016) after the tragic death of Jeff Kuss.    It's about Frank's navy career, 1st career as a Blue Angel, instructing, then coming back to the Blues and finally being the stunt man and flying with Tom Cruise.      Frank does a really good job with his interview and mentions flying with Ryan.    Proud that we got to meet him - a really neat guy and now we know so much more about him.    Again....highly recommend seeing this very awesome movie!

Walked inside and outside this afternoon - really pretty day!

At 4, we walked to Immaculate Conception for 4:30 Mass - darn mayflies were everywhere and attaching to our clothes.   Mark was in church and realized some were still sticking to his pants!    Unfortunately there was a crisis with a lady parishioner who had a health issue and the EMS came and took her away on a stretcher.    Today's homily was about the loaves and fishes and as always, Father Jonathan did a fantastic job with his homily.    At the end of Mass, Molly Ryan (liturgical minister who is at all the weekend masses) played the violin and Mr. Fox (lector and my coffee shop buddy) played the piano to "Panis Angelicus" - beautiful!    Father gave a blessing to all the Fathers.

We walked a few short blocks to A la Cart After Hours (we've eaten at A la Cart for breakfast but this After Hours is next door and a dinner place.)    Very good prime rib (Mark) and mac 'n cheese with pulled pork for me!

Walked home with leftovers for me.   Blair did face time and we went over her list of "needs and wants" of things she's bringing next Sunday to the boat.    What a character!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
to all Dads and Grandpas
