Wednesday - June 15

The heat is on and so we got to the exercising in the coolness of the storage building, then breakfast, and took a bunch of stuff out of the guest cabin (bedroom) to car so Terry can get to the port engine tomorrow (under the bed).   I washed Catrina's inside windows and we called it quits for the day!

So, what to do this HOT day here in Port Clinton???    We've been wanting to see "Top Gun, Maverick" and "Downton Abbey".     So, we took off for Fremont and enjoyed iced coffees + warm cookies (red velvet for Mark and peanut butter cup for me) at "Down Thyme".    We went to the 1:10 Top Gun Maverick movie and wow!!!!    This Mama was shaking', crying and just so overwhelmed.    It was so action packed and thinking that Ryan was a fighter pilot really made it surreal!!!

We came out of the theater and the heat hit like a wallop - in fact, we checked all the location weather we track on our phones of where our kids live (Nebo, Memphis, Bloomington + Fort Myers).    HOT HOT HOT everywhere but Memphis got the prize at 98.  And where Michael's at...........suburb of Johannesburg it was 43.

We've been to 3 different restaurants here in Fremont (Scarpetta's, The Garrison and Chud's).    But today, it was time for #1 "Tackle Box 2".....interesting name and certainly an interesting place......decor out the ying yang along the Sandusky River which had some pontoons and campers (hope they had AC).    We drove down a winding steep road to this place, walked in and NO air.....they have a lot of outside seating + a screened-in porch but they were not seating anyone there!    So we got a table by a huge fan and after cooling down, was quite comfortable as we studied this place!!!!    Just unbelievable!

And amidst all the clutter, the good ole Simpson clan!!!

They have a good selection of fresh perch/walleye, burgers, salads, etc., etc.    We decided to share the 1 lb. of perch, fries and cole slaw platter along with a beer (Mark) and margarita (me).    With this heat and mind-boggling movie, we needed an adult beverage!   Ha!

Our 1 lb of thee freshest most delicious perch!!!

We waddled out of Tackle Box 2 with some leftovers and I talked to 2 guys about the Sandusky River (very dirty) and the island ("Brady's" Island) separating 2 channels of the river.    They said that during the Civil War, prisoners were kept on Brady's Island.

Car temp after lunch!

Back to Port Clinton and stopped at Kroger - while Mark picked up his meds, I got a few groceries and then on home.   We pass this house frequently (Perry Avenue along the lake with some lovely older homes).   Been wanting to get a pic of this particular one which (other than Memorial Weekend when they flew Ole Glory)) have been flying the Ukrainian flag!!!

Nice to see this loyalty and support!

Liam got his contacts this afternoon -wish him all the best!

Still 94 at 7 PM but I wanted/needed to walk after the big lunch and had done very few steps today.  I went to the storage building with my music and got about 3,000 steps - better than nothing!

Stay cool and hydrated!
