Tuesday - June 14

It's Flag Day here in the USA and we are back in Port Clinton...

Our day did not go as planned, but we started off by walking to Gaspard's Cafe (a funky diner with all kinds of stuff - religious, Hispanic decor and diner nostalgic + many canning jars for sale of various food items?)   Breakfast was hot and hearty and back to Catrina.    We met Heather and Robert (had met them on Sunday) again on the boardwalk and this time said our good byes.

So, we were off around 10ish and set the auto pilot for Colchester - 17 miles west.    After about 1/2 hour or so, the port engine alarm went off.....ugh!    This happened Saturday night when we were cruising from Pelee Island to Leamington, but after shutting down and the Captain checking all possibilities, we continued on with no further issues.

Engine temperature and oil pressure were fine,     Long story short, we decided to just head "home" and have a mechanic here in Port Clinton see what's going on?    So what should've been a 2-hour trip, was 4+, but nice on the water, so no biggie.

And tah dah, as far as we can tell, the mayflies are gone!!!!    YEAH!!!!!    An easy process with Customs to check back into the USA.

Our niece Megan is coming to visit in July.    When she was in Canada several years ago she remembered a candy bar that she really liked and asked if we could pick some up for her!    We did find them yesterday - of course, Mark and I had to try one (we shared 1/2) and yes....very good.   Kind of like a Butterfinger + caramel!!!
Delicious Canadian candy bar "The Wunderbar"

Mark called several technicians to come check Catrina's engine but none of them work on Yamaha engines.   He finally got Terry out of Cleveland (recommended by Dave, our dockmaster) who will be here working on another boat Thursday, so will take a look.

It's always good to be back "home" although we were only gone 4 days.   We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Canada and looking forward to a 3-week (or so) trip in August hitting the eastern towns in Canada along Lake Erie.

We had BLT's for supper and then walked downtown.    Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are "M.O.M" which stands for "Music on Madison" or "Meals on Madison".    Madison is the main drag thru downtown.  They took a big area of the parking lot, erected a stage with tent cover, lots of picnic tables, and Adirondack chairs for folks to come out and enjoy the music, have a drink or meal, dance, etc.    We sat on a bench for a while and sang along with several good oldies.

We've heard so much about the horrific heat wave all across the country.....after enjoying wonderful temps in the 70's the past few days, we'll be experiencing the heat tomorrow when Port Clinton is to hit 96.
