Thursday - July 3

Our weather radio has gone off several times since last night and today - strong storms in the area....

Another sweltering day here as we watched many boats come into our marina - really filled up with everyone wanting a ring-side seat for the fireworks tomorrow night.    We have such vivid memories of July 4, 2001 when we were here on Philip's boat (Terraphobic) with our friends, Barb and Roger.    It rained all day (heavy at times) and we wondered if "the show would go on" since back home, fireworks are canceled if there is much rain.    People were everywhere in the Inner Harbor and I walked up to a police officer and asked if there would be fireworks (it's still raining) and he looked at me like "Duh....of course, there will be"!    And sure enough, we were inside Terrapobic's enclosed bridge and watched a spectacular show - rain and all!    Rain is predicted for tomorrow, too.....ugh!

Ominous-looking skies around 5:00

And then there's "Arthur" - sure hope he veers off the coast and heads far out to sea.    Keeping an eye on that weather situation and remembering the summer of 2011 when we were in this area and had Catrina lifted out of the water in Dundalk to escape Irene.

Mark rode his bike to a favorite coffee shop this morning near the Harborview Marina (where Philip kept his boat) and lo and behold....it is closed!    Sure sad to see that as they had some mighty tasty treats for breakfast and lunch, plus all the coffees.    He found a Starbucks a block away, so brought back some pastries.    We set off for a walk to the Inner Harbor shops with one mission in mind.....the grandsons wanted some candy from "It's Sugar".    Two years ago when Drew, Davis and Brady were with us here, they were in 7th heaven in that store and remembered it.   So, they each had a list and we stocked up (assume their Mother will control their intake - probably should add toothbrushes and toothpaste to the stash)!    Ha...    Bought some treats for Liam and Connor, too!

THEEE spot for your sweet tooth!

I was really sad to hear that Louis Zamperini passed away today.    Louie was 97 years old (same as my Dad) and was an Olympic distance runner and World War II veteran who survived 47 days on a life raft in the Pacific after his bomber crashed and then endured 2 years in Japanese prison camps.   His story was written in the best seller "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand a few years ago    It was one of the best books, both Mark and I have ever read  and a movie is currently in production to be released on Christmas Day.    Louis was to be the Grand Marshall for the 2015 Rose Parade.   We highly recommend this very well-written book about this wonderful man!

We did face time with Luke and his Daddy this morning.....he broke into a big grin soon as he saw us  Yeah.....don't want these little ones forgetting their G and G.

Look who's in the "Dog House"?

Liam and Connor spend their days at Game Time Gym and today
presented a little bit of patriotic pride!!!

After all the rain, we walked to the Rusty Scupper (right here in the marina) for a wonderful dinner with the most beautiful view of the harbor.   We've been to Baltimore several times, but this was first time to eat here.  Then walked around (so calm after the storm)!

An early
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA
