June 14

We came down the mountain from St. Mary to Browning this morning with Daisy.Saw this Mama horse and her baby along the side of the road. Ate breakfast at the Junction CafeWent to 10:30 Mass at Little Flower Parish - what a wonderful celebration with a primarily Indian congregation - we were given a warm welcome and enjoyed the very upbeat guitar music!
Left Daisy in Browning and drove Toad to West Glacier for the afternoon. Walked the Cedar Trail in Avalance - the legs are still hurting, but it it was only .08 of a mile and well worth the hike!
As on the east side of Glacier where we could only travel 13 miles on The Road to the Sun, the west side allows us to go 16 miles before the road is closed (all that white stuff ahead). Here's Mark at Avalanche where the closed road begins from west side.
Lake McDonald

We are now in Shelby, Montana for the next 2 nights! Taking a "down" day tomorrow and making notes of all the scenic routes, places, etc., we've experienced these first 2 weeks of our trip. Lots of pictures to organize and get our thoughts together on all we saw and did! One thing for sure...............the beauty out here in the Great West is absolutely "heavenly"!

Pat: So sorry you could not get all the way through on the Road to the Sun. It is just a spectacular drive. I believe I told you that the road only opened two days before we went that way. If you could have gone all the way, there is a welcome center up top and from there you can hike to Hidden Lake which we had planned to do, but alas too much snow. Ralph and Vernette's friends in Atlanta had done that one year and said it was a lovely hike and not too taxing. Will write more later. Have had computer problems and just got it back from computer hospital today. Love, Judy
