What a day! We left Banff this morning in Toad and rented a GyPSy (GPS) which was a a very educational narrative as we traveled the 200+ miles to Jasper on wonderful roads and amazing non-stop scenery! We stopped at BEAUTIFUL Lake Louise (more on that tomorrow). We visited the ice fields and walked on Athabasca Glacier (1000 feet thick)!
On the ice fields
The bus which took us to the ice field - check out the huge tires. Our maximum speed was 10 mph as we traveled down a very steep hill (37% grade) or an angle of 18 degrees.

WhooooWee!!!!!
We filled a bottle with clear, COLD glacier water - delicious!!!!
We took the Jasper Gondola up to 7500 feet (a 7-minute trip) and then... WOW!!!!

Lots of "oh-my-gosh" views!
From the top of Whistler's Mountain
Overlooking Jasper from Whistler's Mountain - the middle turquoise lake is
Lake Annette
We are staying overnight at the Lobstick Lodge in Jasper. Had a very good dinner at "Earl's" and plan to do some hiking and explore Lake Louise tomorrow before going back to Daisy!

Pat: We went up the Icefields Highway and walked on a Glacier too. It was awesome!!!!! We did not take the bus but hiked up the glacier right off the highway. There is a special place to do this. I think the Canadian Rockies are superior to the US Rockies. There is just sooooo much to see. We did not go all the way to Jasper, probably just a quarter to half way, but what we did see was gorgeous. Would love to see that part of Canada again. Judy
