June 20

It was a gorgeous sunny 75-degree day in Banff. We walked downtown (2.5 miles) and had breakfast at Bruno's and then just browsed around the downtown area. Banff is just the most beautiful town nestled in the mountains right in the national park. Walked back to Daisy (2.5 miles uphill). After a short rest, we came back and enjoyed the 2nd annual Banff Bikefest (Banff is the oldest national park in Canada) and bikers were here from all over Canada and the US. The little ones started out on their little bikes with training wheels, big wheels, etc. and all different age categories giving prizes for best costumes and who finished first! Great fun for all....Just a few of the little ones starting out....And now for the serious bikers....we watched the first men's race and here they come down the finish line...
Big crowd lined Banff Avenue. We had lunch at James Gate's Olde Irish Pub - I had the best crab/asparagus/Guiness soup and we shared a Shepherd's Pie! YUMMY!
This elk was just 100 yards from Daisy munching on the grass as we left to come back downtown this evening to watch more of the races and hang out in Starbucks!

Pat: We had lunch in Banff at an Irish cafe. I bet it is the same one. Bob bought a T shirt at a bar in Banff and has worn the T shirt a lot. Judy
