June 4

We left South Dakota on a beautiful sunny morning (was 32 degrees at 6 AM). As we were driving past the Crazy Horse Memorial..............tah dah....clear skies and we could see this wonderful monument (in progress) from the highway - what a difference a day makes! Crazy Horse
As we were trekking thru Wyoming, saw lots of snow fences (can't imagine how brutal the winters must be here). Just miles and miles of nothing (occasionally, a herd of cattle grazing on the open prarie).
An oil field

We are in Riverton, Wyoming tonight. This is home to the Wind River Indian Reservation. Wyoming, the smallest state with a population of 493,782, proved that today when we passed signs of teeny tiny towns listing their population at 10 or 1.........

Treated ourselves at "The Bull Steakhouse" and enjoyed delicious steaks with all the trimmings! After a brief rain shower, it has cooled down to the 50's (was 80 when we arrived here at 3:30).

Off to the Grand Tetons tomorrow (140 miles)!

Pat: It was a clear day when we were at Mt. Rushmore and then went on the see the Crazy Horse Monument. They both are just the most amazing pieces of work. You can just imagine how hard it was to accomplish Mt. Rushmore back in the day it was being done. Now they have better and more advanced equipment and ways to do this. We saw the movie about the Crazy Horse Monument and it was so very interesting. JudyB
