June 19

Well, today was one for the memory books!!!! We had breakfast at "The Soft Rock Cafe" in downtown Jasper (big ole gooey, yummy cinnamon buns). And then off to wander and sitesee...Mark at Lake Annette Family of elk grazing along the road just outside Jasper
And then tah dah.....our first black bear (saw another later in the day)
Tangle Creek FallsWe hiked up to Bow Summit (huffin' & puffin'), but this made it all worthwhile
Lake Peyto
Had an excellent lunch at The Lakeside Lounge in The Chateau Lake Louise with harpist, Deborah Nyack playing romantic tunes (I bought her CD). And we looked out to this...
Lake Louise - view from window...
A very memorable lunch
It started raining, so we put on the rain gear, grabbed our umbrellas and trekked around the lake (3 miles total). Chateau Lake Louise from across the lake with one lone canoe!
Final scenic view of the day was Moraine Lake - turquoise water with interesting beach and dramatic snowy background!
We are back in Starbucks in Banff catching up on e-mail, updating the blog, etc. It is chilly here after a rain/sun/rain/sun kind of day!

Pat: It actually snowed for about 15 minutes when we got to Lake Louise and then about as soon as it started it quit and was sunny again. We also visited Lake Moraine which is as beautiful as Lake Louise. I think this area is the most gorgeous spot we visited that trip and it might be the most beautiful place ever visited. We saw black bear in Yellowstone(think I mentioned this) and then a couple of years ago a black bear ran across the road right in front of our car when we were driving down the coast of Minnesota toward Duluth. Did you ever see any Moose? They can be very elusive.
