Happy Birthday America

Happy July 4th to all! We had a fun day in sunny, warm (80) Fairbanks. After breakfast at The Oasis (best omelet ever), we spent 3 hours at the "Museum of the North" on the University of Alaska campus. Very interesting learning more about this wonderful state from wildlife to Native art and other special exhibits. We enjoyed 2 shows "Winter" (all about a typical Alaska winter - burrrr) and "Dynamic Aurora" (the fascinating story of the northern lights). Pat and "Otto" at entrance to museum
This is a Wal Mart parking lot with many electrical outlets for cars to plug into in the winter time to keep engines warm!
And then off to Pioneer Park - would've been great fun to have our 5 grandsons with us - so much to do and explore and check out and eat and on and on with a parade and all!
" The Nemana" (retired paddle boat) at Pioneer Park
Lots of fun on the 4th of July
The bagpipers performed in the parade
Went to 5:00 Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral (much smaller than cathedrals back home)
A variety of animal pelts - sooo soft and furry with big price tags at a store near our campground
