July 19

Rainy Sunday with temps in the 50's. We left Anchorage at 8:30 and arrived in Homer at 1:30 with a stop in Sterling for lunch at the Moose River Cafe. This Eisenhower Statehood Monument (taken yesterday) was a tribute to Alaska becoming a state 50 years ago (January 3, 1959)
Beautiful wildflowers along the way (Fireweed) in great abundance!
We are camped out at this campground - Homer is the "Halibut Fishing Capital of the World". Homer Spit is a piece of land 4.5 miles long jutting out into Kachemak Bay and located on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula. Lots of charter fishing, shops and restaurants. The harbor at Homer Spit
Just a few of today's catch of halibut
Right next door to Daisy is the Seafarer's Monument - tribute to all who lost their lives at sea
