Tuesday - June 19

I talked to MCO (McLean County Orthopedics) today and gave them update on my hip after taking the extra ibuprofen and Tylenol for past week.    I've had definite improvement with level of  pain but still hurts and weather plays a factor with the joints.   Yesterday we had a 20+ degree change in temperature when the rain came thru    So.....next step is to put me on a steroid
(type of prednisone - methylprednisolone) for 6 days.

Happy to not have to take all those pills!    ALLELUIA!   I'm continuing with the steroid, but much fewer amounts and still using Hope.

We walked downtown and stopped at Rite Aid to get the info so my prescription could be faxed up here.     Then I found a hair salon thru Trip Advisor and Emily at the Newark Hair Salon gave me a new "do" - wow....$15 (been a LONG time since I've paid that low amount)!!!    Once again, gotta love these small towns.

Got the new meds and then went for a bike ride (2 miles each way) to Wegman's and another "experience" browsing thru this wonderful store.

We had a very short day of cruising only 6 miles and 3 locks to Newark.   Had ham and cheese omelets and then left around 10.
Mark took some pretty pics along the way of what our scenery has been here on the Erie Canal....

Peaceful and serene

Pretty scenery along the way

We waited for the train to cross over the canal before we went under it

Out little unicorn has the most delightful imagination.
She had sparkle and rainbows for breakfast with a side order of toaster strudel!

2018 marks the 150th anniversary of when Corning Glass moved from Brooklyn to Corning and also the 100th anniversary of the current New York Canal System.   In honor of this significant milestone, there is a barge that is carrying some of the corning glass-blowing equipment (demos, etc.) to various towns on the canal this summer.    Mark checked the schedule and we hope to see this somewhere, sometime?

Enjoyed visiting with our neighbors along the wall here in Newark.   Dave and Bicki (yup, that's her name) are cruising on "Nellie D"

Walked downtown for dinner at Parker's (ate at the Parker's in Seneca Falls) - really like their food and did not realize there's more than one.   It is a lovely evening but really cooling down.

Tomorrow we'll mosey onto Palmyra
