Monday - January 10

Day 2 started out warm and sunny.    Mark was the first one up and later, he and I walked to Keys News and Coffee just a short jaunt away and came back to sit on the porch with Jim overlooking the water enjoying our coffees and visiting.   Lydia slept in...

Keys News Coffee Shop also has a library of used books with these 2 big bears as part of the decor

After Lydia got up, it was time to try the muffins which were all great, but Jim's was the prettiest.

We couples went for a walk - Jim and Lydia heading east and we were off west to explore new sites and see some of the old ones.   We then took the kiddos on a driving tour of some of our favorite spots around Marathon - the beautiful Isla Bella resort (WOW), Sombrero Marina and Beach, memorial for Bill Beaver (we called him Jerry) who was a homeless man we saw year after year hanging out under this tree with his laptop near Publix.    He died September 9, 2020 in AZ     He was a long-time resident and fixture of Marathon.

Then to Sweet Savannah's which is in a new location since we were last here.   I loved this large store (Wicker Works) when it used to be here full of beautiful home decor and gifts.    But they went out of business and Sweet Savannah's moved into this much larger space.    Their specialty is several flavors of ice cream, cupcakes and other desserts plus lots of gifts.   We all enjoyed our treats!

Excellent place for sweet treats

Visited Marathon Marina and RV resort where we were with Daisy in 2014-2015
Love this infinity pool where we hung out with friends playing dominoes and I first met Beth and Charlotte who also had PDQ catamarans.

Back to our condo and off to the beach bar for some rummikube and orange crush (favorite of mine made with fresh squeezed oj) and beer for Mark
Delightful afternoon sitting on the beach with yummy drinks and 3 games of rummikjube.

Dinner tonight at Sunset Grille - oh soooo good!
And this pretty sunset
Winding down day 2 in Marathon - another winner!

Bummer that today, the trip to Washington, DC that Liam and classmates were going on in a few weeks has been canceled cause of Covid.

The couples played against each other with each of us winning a game of euchre.

It's been a BIG day and we are all winding down....till tomorrow!
