Mark and I went to Stout's (#6 in Marathon) a new place for us that serves breakfast and lunch. Just a small local spot with really good food (breakfast) and delicious homemade jams served in jelly jars.
We then parked at Publix and walked towards Sombrero Marina where we checked out the boats remembering when we were here with Catrina (2012-2013).
While we were gone, Jim went for his walk and Lydia did zoom session with Cypress Trail's HOA board meeting followed by town hall meeting - lots of lively discussion.
At noon we left for the Square Grouper on Cudjoe Key (one of our favorite restaurants in the keys) - excellent lunch (Jim had a BLT; Lydia, the cranberry/walnut salad with shrimp; Mark and I had the pan seared grouper with key lime tarter sauce and topped with onion straws!)
My yummy sangria
We drove to Big Pine Island and saw a big ole alligator and the little key deer. Several deer posed nicely for us standing alongside the road. Also stopped at "No Name Pub" which has oodles, bunches and gobs of dollar bills plastered all over the walls and ceiling. Another good place to eat.
$$$ everywhere at No Name Pub
Back to Marathon and stopped at Burdine's for their fried key lime pie - each couple split a piece (a soft tortilla wrapped around a piece of key lime pie, then deep fried and sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar/icing) Oh my!!!
Finally we were back home but then Mark and I took off to get our steps. Walked to the new library which opened in August, 2019. It's beautiful - went inside to check it out.
What a big day - we are tired, but happy enjoying our time in this beautiful, quaint part of the country.
