Sunday - June 12

Cool, cloudy and breezy start to the day....there are several Catholic churches in town but closest (St. Michael's) is a 47-minute walk.    And not knowing what the biking conditions are (we do not do busy streets), we decided to attend online Mass with Bishop Reed in Boston.    Been awhile since we've seen these fine folks - today Father Tom McDonald said the mass and so good to be with familiar faces of priests and lectors at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

With no internet on Pelee Island, there would not have been an option for online.

The sun came out around 10 and we took off on foot to explore this area we had not seen in 14 years!!!  They have a really nice boardwalk (Promenade) along the water and it is bursting with colorful blooms everywhere - hanging baskets, big pots, in the ground, etc.   Here are a "few" pics.... 😀

Interesting little pineapples growing in these plants???

We chatted with these nice folks who were walking along also admiring all the flowers.    They recently moved from Alberta to Leamington (retirement home) and love it here.    When we were here in 2008, the population was 12,000 and now it's 27,595

Michael is flying to South Africa today....long flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia to Qatar to Johannesburg.

We walked in the afternoon past a residential neighborhood, back on the Promenade, to the beach and tah dah....stopped at Burgess Refreshments and shared a heavenly hash dish of ice cream!    It turned sunny and warm on this lovely Sunday afternoon/evening.

Nine siblings tonight on zoom - lots of catching up on all the health issues and Tom showed us the contraption he uses to keep his head down recovering from the retina detachment.    We had lots of laughs and stories....

Did facetime with Anne, Liam, Connor, Gibson and Frankie....all good there and keeping busy with mowing and golfing.    Anne will be back in the office this week.   Liam is getting his contacts on Wednesday.

Have a great week!
