Rained during the night and this morning...a yucky day with chilly temps hovering in the 50's....we decided a nice hot breakfast was in order so off to the Carlock Family Restaurant. It was busy and everyone who came in was wearing hooded sweatshirts, fleece or quilted jackets....not typical May weather, but then we are in IL, so.......
Next on our little outing was to find a post office to mail some cards we wanted to go out today..........well, we are close to several small towns which have a post office (Carlock, Congerville, Goodfield, Eureka, Deer Creek, etc.) But their Saturday hours vary from one town to the next with shortened hours. We drove to Eureka only to be told the mail is not picked up every day? And definitely not on Saturdays! ARGHHH, so the cards won't go out till Monday. The clerk said they've cut back on mail pick up---------well, yeah, service is cut back, BUT we have to pay more as 1st class stamps are going up AGAIN from .73 to .78 come July 13th. 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
Mark got Ruby washed, a quick stop at Dollar General and on home. Good to be nice 'n warm for rest of the day. I watched 2 more episodes of "Call the Midwife" as I've been behind. Still so amazing to me that this is the 14th season (8 episodes per season) and with all those various story lines, I still cry each and every time at these heartwarming stories.
We shared a warm piece of lava cake with vanilla ice cream for a little afternoon snack.
Mark and I have been involved with the Unbound program (nonprofit international development organization to serve the poor in 17 countries). We have sponsored Harold since he was 8 years old and on June 8th, he'll be 17. What a nice young man who lives in the Philippines with his family.
Before the Kentucky Derby race, we were watching the muddy mess at Churchill Downs and I so enjoyed all the hats and hoopla! Mark predicted his choice of who would win....."Sovereignty" and by golly, he was right on!!!
