Saturday - February 12

Good News:  Pat's dad is leaving the hospital today.  His lungs are clear again and blood numbers are looking better.  He is ready to leave and the care he gets at the nursing home is as good as the hospital at this point.   Doctor did forewarn Pat that he'll continue to be in and out of the hospital with his lungs.

I told her I knew she was coming back to Florida even before she called me.  The sun came back out, clear skies - best it has been since she left.   She's my good luck charm.  She will be flying in late tonight.

I have the laundry done, Daisy is reasonably clean, have my taxes and bookwork caught up, so I should be ready for the continuation of our crazy social calendar starting tomorrow.

Friday, February 11

More tests were done on Pat's dad yesterday.   Sometime during his hospital stay he has had a small heart attack.  Thus they are now watching both the lungs and the heart.  There is a 20-30% chance he could have another.  If he can go 2-3 months without another attach the heart vessels will have time to repair themselves.

Yesterday he was very sleepy.  He was alert and clear headed when he was awake, but just not awake that much.

Thursday, February 10

Pat made it just fine to Mendota.  She forgot to tell me that she had volunteered my services to update the Blog.  Guess, my first clue should have been the fact that she did not take her computer....

Her dad has started to respond to the breathing treatments and she found him alert yesterday but was getting confused somewhat as the day went on.  Today he is alert when he is awake, but has been sleeping quite often.

Further tests are showing both lung and heart problems, but nothing specific yet as to what the problems are.

She is glad to be with her Dad, but not happy with the below zero wind chills.

Tuesday, February 8

I'm flying back to IL tomorrow (one day earlier than planned).   My Dad is having serious lung problems and his doctor called today.   Please keep him in your prayers!

Mark, Jason, Paul, Glen and Bill sailed on Glen's catamaran - they had a lot of FUN!   Bob stayed on Daisy and walked to the Parrot Key for lunch.

We girls met at Mimi's for lunch (really good food) and then we split up and shopped.   Great being together and planning the Mid Illini luncheon.    This was a 2.5 hour power lunch - ha!

Bob, Linda and Jason left for Lakeland, I exercised, finished packing and had a nice chat with Dad.

Monday, February 7

Sunny, warm day - I did laundry (Mondays were always "wash" day in years past and that seems to still be the case - at least here in our RV park).  Busy, busy, but got it done.   Mark exercised, I got a manicure and then met my brother Bob, Linda and nephew, Jason who is visiitng this week from Wisconsin.

We all drove over to Sanibel/Captiva - walked the beach looking for shells...

We had a wonderful dinner at The Mucky Duck on Captiva.

Waiting outdoors for our table (1 + hour wait)  with our wine/beer listening to the music.

My Dad is back in the hospital - he was admitted this afternoon with breathing issues and is on steroids/breathing treatments for a few days.    The worry genes kick in once again...

I'm flying to IL Thursday (planned trip) - time to take a break from the warm sunshine, seafood, shopping, etc.     HA!
