Friday-Sunday, May 4-6

We are back at Kamp Komfort after a fun getaway north to visit our families.

Friday - packed up our stuff and went to Busy Corner for lunch and pie (6 pieces to go).   I drove thru the country - it was a lovely day and at Mark's suggestion, we stopped at Scottswood Floral in Eureka - such a pretty shop full of gifts and floral arrangements.   Actually I browsed and he got the car washed.    I had been there at Christmas time....spring was gorgeous!

We got to Bob and Linda's in Mendota round 2.....nice afternoon of visiting and then their friends Sue and Dan came, and after drinks, we all went to Mark Allen's in Peru for dinner!    Really nice evening and good food.

Saturday - we drove to Sublette and Mark and I put a basket of red/white and blue flowers on Mom and Dad's graves.

Then to the Local Cup and Cake Shop which is fairly new downtown.    Bob and Linda met us there and we had some yummy muffins and coffee.    Cousins of mine have started up this business and seems to be doing well.    We wish them the best!

Off to Dixon and visited with Mark's sister Sue at the Dixon Food Center.    She had to work so not able to join rest of us (Theresa, Mike, Marilyn and Karen) for lunch at Somkit (That Thai Place).    We had a great visit and the food was very good.

Said our good byes and back to Sublette.    We watched the Kentucky Derby and felt bad that it was such a pretty day where we were and raining big time in Louisville.    We played a new dice game - lots of fun.    Mark and I need a new game other than cards!    My Aunt Marian and cousin Mary came for dinner.   Bob grilled out butterfly pork shops and along with other goodies (cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole and layered lettuce salad, we had quite a feast).    Then it was time for 6-handed euchre with Bob, Aunt Marian and me against Mark, Mary and Linda.    We won 2 out of 3 and what fun with close games!

Pie time as we tried a little of this or that (cherry, strawberry rhubarb, triple berry, pecan, French silk and coconut cream).

Sunday - went to Cindy's for breakfast and then 10:30 Mass.    What a nice surprise to have Father Tom Mizeur, formerly an assistant at Holy Trinity back in the early 70's and now retired, as our priest today.   Back to Bob and Linda's for one more round of dice (which I won) and then we were off to the nursing homes to see my cousins (brothers) - Dick at Heritage Manor and Jim at Lutheran Home.    Had good visits with both and hope and pray for their ongoing health issues.

Mark drove home and I slept most of the way - not sure if its allergies or what is going on but my nose is just running away plus a lot of sneezing and some coughing!
