Saturday - April 1

 WELCOME  APRIL

the month of sunshine, rain and fresh beauty!

We walked this morning but so humid - going to be very HOT for many days to come!

Happy Heavenly Birthday to my Mom who would've been 104 today.    She always shared her day with the April Fools jokes!!!

Our hot water heater in the she shed blew a fuse - what should've been a "simple" fix.....ugh, was not!    Jim came to the rescue with an extra fuse he had as he went thru this same thing a while back.    But for some reason, the plumber installed our heater under the sink in a very hard spot to get to, so the brothers had to take off the granimte top, sink, disconnect the water lines, etc......arghhhh

This afternoon we drove downtown to meet our Canadian friends, Ron and Lois at Ella Mae's Diner for lunch.    It was sooo good to see them (last time was March 10, 2020 just before Covid hit).   We all enjoyed our lunch and so fun to catch up.    They are doing great and have 1 more month in Punta Gorda before heading back to Canada.   Afterwards, we walked thru the Luminary Hotel and then to the top floor and enjoyed the views on this beautiful day.    Said our good byes and hopefully we'll see them this fall/winter again!    Always enjoy our time with them!

On home and Mark got to work tackling the water heater issue - Jim came over and turns out it's not just a fuse, but something more serious?    Mark is looking into replacing it as that may be a cheaper route than calling a plumber?   He'll figure it out and decide on Monday!

In light of all this.....so minor after hearing this morning that our 6-year old great nephew, Beckett (Mark's sister, Nancy's grandson) was diagnosed with a brain tumor.   He's at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago awaiting results and what the doctors decide.    So sad and scary....Beckett is 5 months younger than Maeve.

This guy (soft-shelled turtle - thanks Annette) was just slowly crossing the street
this morning here in the park

Brenda next door asked me to come over for a little photo shoot of she and Gary and their pretty green palm trees for a possible Christmas card?    I took several pics and then Mark joined us and Gary took this selfie.
