Tuesday - July 14

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CONNOR

July 14, 2006
And then he became "Woody"
and today...9 years old
a Real Sweet, Loving All-American boy!

We walked around the park a few times around 7 AM to beat the heat!    Ha....it was in the 80's already.   After breakfast, Mark gave Daisy a good scrubbing.   We went to the 11:30 practice of the Blue Angels (8-10,000 people).    We were hoping maybe we would see Davis and classmates as they were to be there, too.    But not in that mob.    Ryan had breakfast with Davis and his roommates and then talked to the entire class.

Shortly after the practice ended and most of the people had departed either to their cars or the naval museum, oh my, it poured and poured!!!    Lucky to be inside.   Florida sure gets some massive downpours and then the sun comes out and the heat is on...again!

Had lunch at Brothers BBQ - excellent and all sorts of customers.....doctors in their scrubs, construction workers, businessmen, and common folk like us!    Small place that has big smoker to cook the meat out front and darn good food!

Hanging out at Ryan's and he got home at 3:30.  Lots to do before he leaves tomorrow for 3 weeks
(Portland, OR, Fargo, ND and Seattle).

I fixed a spaghetti dinner and we sat around the pool visiting -
a treat to get some one-on-one time with Ryan.

Did face time with the Birthday Boy!

Monday - July 13

We exercised early this morning (at 7:00 it was already 81 degrees)!     But got that out of the way, fixed a nice breakfast and Mark did some Daisy jobs and I caught up on e-mails.    The boys came by around 11.....we left for Destin, had lunch at Callahan's (very good) and then took Michael to the airport for his flight back to Charlotte.

We drove thru some VERY heavy rain coming back to our RV park.

Sure enjoyed being together this weekend.....Davis is doing his thing at the National Flight Academy which is called the USS Ambition and an exact replica of an aircraft carrier.   Just reading about this STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) experience is quite something!

After the rain, the sun came out and we went for a walk around the park - steamy out there!
BAD storms back in IL tonight - AGAIN!!!

Sunday - July 12

Sure feel for the folks back home in IL where it's been so cool and WET......we have a hot, sunny week ahead in the Panhandle!    After all the heat and excitement from yesterday's show, we slept sooo good last night....up and going with a trip to one of Mark's favorites - Waffle House, just down the road from Daisy.     Back to tidy up a bit.

Went to 10:30 Mass at Church of the Nativity - neat young priest and great sermon!

Stopped at Publix for a few things and then onto Ryan's.    Michael checked Davis into the National Flight Academy and then orientation.    Davis will be on the Naval Base today thru Friday for math, science, simulator training, etc.    There are 50 other classmates 7th-12th grades.

We 4 played euchre in the afternoon and enjoyed the hot tub.   Michael grilled out burgers and we had some yummy sides from Publix.

Fun afternoon with 2/3 of our boys or 1/2 of our kids!

Saturday - July 11

Today was the big "Red, White and Blues Air Show" and we and thousands of others were there on Pensacola Beach on a HOT Saturday!    Davis, Mark and I went to Ryan's at 6:40 AM and left with Michael driving, at 7 for the beach.    Traffic was backed up and very glad we left when we did cause it just kept getting worse.

Had breakfast at the Hilton (Michael and Davis are staying here tonight) which was close to Center point and the Blue Angel Family and Friends tent.

Such a nice treat to have my Tiger Cruise roommate, Jackie, her friend, Darryl and his son Joseph with us today.    Great to catch up (they came from New Orleans) and just so fun to be together.

After cooling down a bit in Michael's hotel room, we are back on Daisy "chillin" tonight!

Friday - July 10

We are at the Avalon Landing RV Park in Milton, FL (about 10 miles from Ryan).    We came 200 miles today and shopped at the  brand new Costco (opened June 4th). in Mobile    Had their hot dogs with 20.oz drink ($1.50 - what a deal) for lunch.    It was really thundering while we were shopping but all passed north of us.

We had planned to pick up Michael and Davis at the Mobile airport, but their flight was delayed (maintenance issue), so they flew into Pensacola.

We all met at Ryan's house.    Mark, Michael, Davis and I went to he Apple Market and got snacks and drinks for the air show.  Ryan stopped at home briefly and then had a dinner to attend   Rest of us went to Bonefish Grill for delicious dinner!   So fun to be together.

Davis is spending tonight with us on Daisy.
