Tuesday - July 17

Another steamy one today and after breakfast we took off for the metro and onto DC.   We gathered materials from the Smithsonian as to what we thought the boys would be interested in..both the Natural History and the American History Museums.   Had a light lunch and then walked around the National Mall - but oh stifling out!

We had a tour scheduled at the Holocaust Museum - spent over 2 hours there and quite a sobering experience.    Since we had done the Holocaust memorial in Nuremberg, Germany this past Memorial Day, we came away concluding that both were outstanding (each having a uniqueness to their exhibition)

The Washington Monument

It really does stand straight - photographer must've been a little tipsy from the heat?
Unfortunately, it is not open and repairs are still underway from the August 23, 2011 earthquake

Back to the metro, drove Toad thru the car wash and then home to Daisy.    We went for a walk around 7 and it was still 96 degrees!

Enjoying our stay here at Duncan's (very kid friendly) and will stay put till after we take the grandsons home.   We'll sit down this weekend and go over all our options and see what they want to do.
Next week - it's all about da boys!!!
