Friday - May 8

Very overcast today with some rain showers off and on.   I picked up Grandma at 8:15, met Mark and Daisy at the Pilot Truck Stop in Dixon to hook up and we were off to Davenport.

First stop was the Ramada Inn in Bettendorf to meet Ryan, visit for about 20 minutes and get our passes for the weekend.    Ryan told us that #5 pilot, Mark Tedrow had flown back to Pensacola as his wife, Elizabeth was in labor with their first child!    So, it will be the Diamond Formation and Ryan this weekend.

Had lunch at the Machine Shed, got Daisy settled in at the Interstate RV Park, Grandma took a nap and then we were off to the air show.   Lots of family came, but unfortunately, so did the rain and not-so-good visibility.     Only #1 and #4 pilots put on a very abbreviated practice.    Ryan did not fly, but everyone enjoyed watching the 2 jets do their thing!

Tonight we had dinner at Los Avendas with Mark's sister, Doris, her 2 daughters, Laura and Theresa, daughter-in-law, Morgan, granddaughter, Riley and friend, Sarah.    Lots of fun and chatter.   They will all be at the air show tomorrow - bring on the sunshine!
