Thursday - June 8

We left the marina with Big Red at 9 AM heading to Jackson Center.   Flo was waiting for us, Mark hooked her up, went inside to wash his hands and then saw water coming out from kitchen onto floor/rug, etc.    When they installed a new water heater, one of the other water fittings cracked ARGHHH    The tech guy who had done all the jobs was at lunch but soon arrived and checked out and fixed the problem with many apologies.   Got the water cleaned up, rug drying and on our way about 1 hour later than planned.

2+ hours back to Port Clinton, got Flo settled next to Catrina - tomorrow she will be getting a much needed cleaning and then stored away for the summer.

We noticed many fields up this way have not been planted yet or just newly planted and it's June 8th?

We didn't have lunch so home for just a bit and then off to Jolly Rogers for delicious fresh perch 'n onion rings for Mark and shrimp/perch with onion rings for me + delicious cole slaw and roll.    This place is sooo popular and usually folks are coming out the door waiting.   When we were in Jackson Center today, Mark talked to a guy who was there with his Airstream from Gainesville, FL.    He and his wife had just come from Lake Erie and when Mark said we're at Port Clinton, he said "ever been to Jolly Rogers"?  😀😀    They love it and a favorite when they are up in this area.

Huge serving of shrimp/perch/onion rings

Ordered my new calendar from Amazon and it arrived today - it's July 2023-June 2026.   I have several items to get 2024 started
Bring on the dates!

Since we've been spending time in Fremont (bike riding, eye doctor, eating, etc.), we noticed that this is the location of the Rutherford B Hayes (19th president of the US) library museum.    We will have to check it out sometime.    Lots of "Hayes" things around town, including where Dr. DeRodes office is located.

While traveling on I-75 today we came upon Wapakoneta and thought about stopping for lunch, but kept on trucking.   It is the hometown of Neal Armstrong, 1st astronaut to step on the moon (July 20, 1969) and the Armstrong Air and Space Museum is located here.

Another sobering Hurricane Ian fact that came out recently...."30,000" homes were destroyed from that horrific day (9/28/2022)

Also related to Ian, Fort Myers and Naples have cancelled their 4th of July fireworks and festivities this year due to ongoing cleanup and mainly for safety measures.

We went for a walk and talked to Bob our neighbor who came up this evening with Donna and Simon (German Shepherd) for the weekend.    Bob invited us over for drinks, and see their new-to-them yacht  (actually 25 years old and absolutely gorgeous - 54' Viking).    We had such a good time - great folks from south of Columbus.
Bob and Donna

We made a tentative plan to go out for our anniversaries and celebrate.....50 years for them on June 30th and 54 for us on the 28th.
