Saturday - July 9

We exercised, had breakfast, left Daisy around 9 and headed to the air show with a stop at Starbucks along the way.    Much cooler today with strong winds from the north off Lake Michigan - the lake was wild.   Lots and lots of people came and the clouds parted just before the Blue Angels took over.    Mark's sisters, nieces and nephew-in-law came, along with my cousin Lori, her family and their neighbors.    There were some awesome performers today, including the Golden Knights (Army) parachuters and then another flawless performance by the Blues!
Eloise and Al...friends and neighbors of my cousin, Lori and family
Mark, Lori, Ryan and Sarah
Some from Mark's family.....Kyle (nephew-in-law and hubby to Cory), Mark, Pat, Hannah (niece), Cory (niece), Marilyn (sister), Sue (sister), Kathi (friend)

Cousins Pat and Lori (she was our flower girl 47 years ago)
But, the day was marred by tragedy when we heard from Anne as we were leaving the park that there had been 2 drownings at the air show.   She saw this on Facebook. The waves were sooo powerful (4-7') and from early on and throughout the day, they made announcements at our Miller Beach to NOT go into the water.....  3 other people were taken to the hospital.    It was about 1 mile from where we were at a private beach (Wells).
We stopped at Strack & Van Til for a few groceries - never heard of this chain of grocery stores but many in this part of Indiana.  We are also seeing a bunch of "Luke" gas stations.
You probably heard the announcement a few days ago that a new #6 has been named for the Blue Angels - Frank Weisser.     He will begin training soon and expects to join the team for the Labor Day weekend in Cleveland.     Frank was a Blue Angel in 2008-2010.
Also, about a week ago, the big red barn on the farm where Mark and his 12 siblings were raised collapsed.    This provided much entertainment for the kids/grandkids over the years as well as the place to milk all the cows 2x a day for many years.....

Sad...
Back to the beach tomorrow for 1 more show......can't wait to see
Liam and Connor, Anne and Patrick!
