Saturday - July 16

Today is all about the

RED, WHITE, and BLUES Day here on
Pensacola Beach!

We had a leisurely morning and breakfast with a delightful little boy helping to clear our dishes.   This little guy has been helping at the Hilton since he was 5 and is from Atlanta.   His Grandpa owns this particular Hilton and also is a pilot who will be in the first act of the show today.    We talked about the Blues and Jeff.  This little guy is going places some day....

We walked for a while, but so hot and so many people and so much traffic, decided to come back and be cool till we have to be out in the heat!    The boat traffic from our window is unreal, too....both on the Bay and Intracoastal.  This weekend, it's all about applying sunscreen frequently and drinking lots and lots of water!

From Friday's practice:

and today...

 2nd-floor balcony of hotel

Today we met the new #6 for the first time
Cdr. Frank Weisser - had a wonderful visit before the show!

It was a brutally hot day on the beach!    The tent brought some relief - very thankful for that, but the hot sand and just being under that intense sun was whew...wee!    After the show, we walked back to hotel, showered and enjoyed the cool AC.    Later we walked to Red Fish, Blue Fish across the street for early supper.   Mark had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw (southern style) and I had the wedge salad with warm bacon dressing and grilled shrimp.    They were featuring a special "Blue Angel"  drink.
Very refreshing!

Blue Angel concoction (Long Island Iced T with
sprite and blue coloring)

We walked around a little, but still so hot!    The Blues have had a very busy week of meeting, interviewing, entertaining the finalists for 9 new Blue Angel positions (3 pilots and other officers) for the 2017 season.    That group was officially named today on FB.    We were with Ryan just a very short time last night at the reception.

We so well remember Friday July 13, 2012 as we were pulling into an RV park in Clarksville, NJ with Daisy/Toad.    Ryan called and said "I'm a Blue Angel"!!!

Here is article in tonight's Pensacola News Journal along with some great pics from the show - performers, crowds and #5.
