Tuesday - September 2

Hot and steamy again today as promised (maybe a break in the humidity tomorrow)?    We left Smith Creek at 8:30 and had a nice breeze and very comfortable ride back to Oxford (70 miles) with flat, calm waters on the Potomac, Chesapeake Bay, Choptank and Tred Avon Rivers.   Good to be back "home", but stifling once we stopped - once again, so thankful for air conditioning!    These days are not meant to anchor out - at least for these nomads!

We plan to stay here a few days and then off again for one final hurrah of the season.    We're going to unload a bunch of stuff on Catrina and put in truck that we won't need again.   We are clearing out and making room for our guests who will be coming onboard for the Blue Angels in Baltimore the 12-14th.    Philip and our nephew, Tom will each be spending a night that weekend for the "Star Spangled Spectacular."   Baltimore is hosting a huge extravaganza to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Francis Scott Key's writing of the national anthem near Fort McHenry during the War of 1812.    This is a week-long celebration and Baltimore is expecting 1M+ visitors!

Luke is ready to hit the pool

Ahhhh, that felt good after a refreshing swim on a hot day in FL

We sure enjoyed our time on the Potomac, especially Mount Vernon, DC and Alexandria.    Already talking about going back next year and enjoying more sites along the way +++ make reservations well in advance to visit the Washington Monument.    And take the dinghy up the Potomac past the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Georgetown, etc.   And....hopefully, take some grandsons along next time!!!

We went to one of our favorites here - Latitude 38 for another delicious dinner - started with a great appetizer - tower of fried green tomatoes/goat cheese/fresh crab and drizzled with strawberry balsamic dressing - yum yum!!!
