Saturday-Sunday, October 17-18

Saturday - started the day with breakfast  at Kani Ka Pila Grille.   We ate here 3 years ago and I made a repeat order of the banana macadamia nut pancake    Still delicious and I'm pretty sure we had the very same waitress.

We walked around a bit on another gorgeous day, but leery about weather across the mountain.   We left for the show and sure enough, another very disappointing weather day on Kaneohe Bay     Heavy dark clouds and poor visibility over the mountains.   Once again, #5, Mark flew over and around the mountains and then the narrator, Jeff announced that "The show will go on".....and another nail-biting day!    But for the throngs there who were seeing the Blue Angels for the first time or enjoying their maneuvers again, it was a great show!

Met Regina, Mother of #2 pilot, Matt Suyderhoud for first time.    She and Jack live in Honolulu.
They had a huge contingent of family and friends there to cheer on Matt.
I loved Regina's fresh lei which smelled so good (ginger)!

Back to the hotel (heavy traffic) and after showers, we went to the 30th Floor at the Leahi Lounge and had a glass of wine and wow.....beautiful nighttime in Honolulu.

We met Ryan for dinner at P. F. Changs - very good as always, but very noisy making it hard to visit.   There were 2 large tables near us that were in a very loud, party mood!!!   Said our good-byes till we meet in Pensacola for Homecoming.    We have a change of plans and after looking at loads for standby and getting home, we're going to attempt a flight tomorrow.

Sunday -  Finished packing, visited with some of the Blues in the lobby and then were on our way to meet our nephew, John and Mandy, their kids and some of Mandy's family (Mom, sister and cousins) for breakfast at Koa Pancake House.

We sat in the warm sunshine enjoying our breakfast and had such a nice visit!    Said our good-byes and they left for the air show (hope 'n pray this 3rd day is a charm with much better weather).

Mark and I drove to the airport, turned in the rental car and now waiting to see when we can fly home.   Several options, but oh-so-many-people wanting to do same thing as us!

Stay tuned and next time I write, hopefully, we are back in IL.

Aloha
