Friday - June 11

Sunshiny Friday morning but rain is a'comin.    We did computer stuff (e-mails, texts, etc.for me; more logistics planning for Mark).

Yesterday during the long wait for lock 29 to open, we visited with our neighbors (rafted up together) - "Northern Lights" from Sandusky, OH  (2 guys bringing the boat back to OH from Marathon, FL where spent the winter.    We told them we were taking our 2 grandchildren to Cedar Point when they come visit us in July.    There is a marina right by the park (along with the amusement park and Cedar Shores Water Park).    We did not realize you must have reservations to get into the park, so something we'll be working on as we don't want the kiddos missing out on this fun.     We'll be making marina, amusement and water park plans ASAP.

Jim and Lydia are going to the Rocky Mountains but also needed a reservation so were able to get a time slot today.    The sign of the times as Covid continues to affect us in one way or another.

After pancakes and sausage (thanks to my Captain), we walked downtown and I got some things at the Red Bird Market and Dollar Tree.     A little light housekeeping on Catrina and then our guests arrived

John and grandson, 4-year old Evan came onboard and we had a nice visit, then drove to Carpe Diem Pizza for 4 slices of pizza and to Perinton Park for lunch and play time for Evan.   He has a plasma car and man oh man, he can fly!!!

While we were enjoying our pizza under the shelter, Mark noticed a boat going by and we jumped up from the picnic table and quickly walked over to the canal (this park runs all along the Erie).   It was our buddies from Brewerton....Hal and Laurie on "Gemini" and Chris and Mary on "Cashelmara",    We waved and took their pics.    What a nice surprise as they were heading to Spencerport (beyond Rochester).

Gemini

Cashelmara

About 1/2 mile back, they had passed by Catrina.

Evan with an "ant on a stick"

John brought Mark and me back to Catrina at 1:30 so Evan could take a nap.   And that's what Mark and I did - big morning on the playground wore us out!!!  😊

John and Cindy have 4 sons and 3 grandsons (Lucas 6, Evan 4 and Isaac 2.)    Lucas is still in school (NY doesn't end their year till June 25th).    He picked Lucas up from school and brought he and Evan back to Catrina for dinghy rides and fun whirlwind afternoon - boy, those boys have ENERGY and run, run, run!!!

Captain Mark and crew

Grandpa John with Lucas and Evan

We were with this crew in 2018 and 2019 (Lucas has changed so much and Evan is a mini Lucas).    These guys are go go go non-stop!!!!!!!

Pretty flowers here in Fairport near Catrina

After John took the boys home (they live in Fairport with Mom Emma and Dad Brian), John came back and we walked to Donnelly's for take out - had tried and tried to call them but no one answered the phone.    So, a short walk, ordered and brought back to Catrina.    Great evening!  John and Cindy live in Rochester.

Thinking of and praying for Mark's sister, Sharon who is in a Louisville hospital tonight with pancreatitis.

Have a great weekend!
