Sunday - September 12

Hello from the Dodge County Fairgrounds outside Juneau, WI (near Beaver Dam) where we are settled for 1 night.    We left our Trailhead campground at 6:19 AM in the dark and raining.    Fortunately, the rain didn't amount to much and no problem getting on the 7:10 ferry with 10 other vehicles.

Took this while waiting for the ferry
Beautiful sunrise over Lake Huron
The ferry ready to take us from Drummond Island to DeTour Village
We were #2 and 3.

Crossed to DeTour Village, Mark led the way and my GPS said 6 hrs. 23 minutes to our destination (originally planned for Oshkosh).    UGH.....but I was happy listening to my oldies and he was enjoying his country tunes.    We stopped in Escanaba for coffee at Jo to Go and got diesel for Big Red and gas for my car at Meijer's.

Jo to GO

Back "on the road again" and other than a little rain near Appleton, was a good weather day for traveling.   And we enjoyed gaining back that hour we gave up way back in May!    It was a pretty drive along Lake Michigan for almost 200 miles.

Our nephew Steve and Lori live in Marinette, WI and we drove straight thru there - would've been fun to stop and see them, but.....with Flo, nothing is that easy and we were on a mission.    We'll see them in a few weeks at Steve's sister, Lisa's wedding.

When we were driving around Appleton, Mark mentioned selling our 24' sailboat (Miss Megan) to a guy from Appleton back in 1989.

My 60's on 6 played the top 40 tunes from this week back in 1961.    Now that was more my brothers' era, so many of them, I had never heard of and there were some silly songs that made me laugh.    But I still think that music beats what our kids listen to today?    I enjoyed familiar songs by Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Elvis, Johnny Tillotson, etc.    "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight" was the top 7th song....made me smile!    An oldie but a goodie.

Mark's "Highway" country songs were playing the current top 30 and Old Dominion had the #1 hit.    Stormy Warren (DJ) said they had an exciting week getting to ride (all 3 members) with the Blue Angels in Pensacola.   Stormy said he got that honor and thrill a few years ago.

We stopped for a sandwich and some munchies (lunch) and Mark decided we should and could go further than Oshkosh.    We were both feeling fine, the weather was good and let's get another hour south so tomorrow is a shorter day,    So, 400 miles later, here we are and it's raining.

No zoom for us tonight - we are exhausted!

217 miles to Kamp Komfort 😀 and HOME SWEET HOME!

          Catrina travel statistics for 2021

Our Catrina time started on June 3 and ended September 5.

We cruised 1,215 miles in 4 states (NY, PA, OH and MI) with 110 hours on the engines and visited 30 different locations.    Sorry we missed Canada - next year!

Enjoyed many fun coffee shops and great restaurants.    The flowers in Ashtabula and Vermilion, OH were incredibly beautiful.

Having Luke and Blair visit for 9 days was extra special along with Niagara Falls, Cedar Point and Cedar Shores

We’ll never forget getting “trapped” in Ashtabula by all the debris on the river.
