Wednesday - September 1

September started out very windy, sunny and cooler - enjoying that fresh air to welcome the "9th" month of 2021!

Mark picked up some coffees at Coffee Express, I fixed bagels and berries and our day was underway.   He finished cleaning his bridge lockers on Catrina and had a big bag of junk or stuff we no longer need.  Always feels good to "clean" and "pitch"!

Opened the windows and let the fresh air in!    Love it!!!    Our NC kiddos are getting rain from Ida but not too bad.    Amazing stories coming out from Ida's wrath thru LA, MS, AL......saw a video of the rescue of a cow from a tree in St. Bernard's Parish, LA.     So sad to see the damage in Annapolis this afternoon from several tornadoes (Ida).    Thankful our friends Charlotte and Doug are ok but plenty of damage to their neighborhood and beautiful town.

The Portage Resale Center (PRC)  is located a block from the marina and we pass it every day (open Mon-Wed-Fri).    Always lots of people and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry is connected to it.   We had an overflowing bin of stuff to donate + lots of paper and plastic bags, so that was on today's agenda.    The reviews on this place were off the charts for "nice" stuff, very clean and organized, etc.    Two young men met us at the car and carried in our stuff and then unloaded it all as I wanted the bin back.    Then we walked thru the resale shop and oh my, those reviews were all very true.   Not that I've been in lots of resale shops, but this was by far the best.    It was laid out so well and nicely organized with clothing, knick knacks, kitchen, home decor, furniture, books, etc., etc.    Lots of people browsing.    I had fun walking around (Mark walked back to Catrina) but didn't buy anything.   They were very appreciative of our donations.

I scrubbed Flo's floor, we did 3 loads of laundry and then we had a nice quiet rest of the afternoon (both of us took a little cat nap).   Then we took the dinghy out for one last little spin on the Portage River.    Mark hoisted it up on back of Catrina and that's that!!!

We found a new (to us) coffee shop (R Coffee Corner) near where our laundromat is.   Mark googled "Bubble Tea" to see if there was a spot in Port Clinton that made these delicious drinks?    Well, lo and behold just down the street (been past this several times - duh) was the R Coffee Corner.   Got the washers going and I drove to find this neat place with all the coffees, breakfast items, other beverages, and lots of bubble tea flavor choices.   It has a large seating area with fireplace - very cozy.   My tea was delicious and the 4th one I've enjoyed (Grand Forks, ND, Coos Bay, OR, Cedar Falls, IA and now Port Clinton).    The first 3 were all last summer when we were on our big road trip with Flo.   If you've never had a bubble tea....try one!    They are delicious and really happy to find another neat coffee shop!

Mark grilled out brats - really hit the spot!

Here it is September and thinking of several family/friends who passed away this month in recent years (all men)....
