We've had today's date on the calendar since February 4th when Laurie, Beth and I picked April 4th to have a day on the water on Vinnie and Laurie's boat (just like Catrina - PDQ) and formerly owned by John and Beth. The forecast has been for 60% chance of rain throughout the day, but once again the weatherman was wrong and it was a mostly cloudy but warm day and perfect on the intracoastal.
Mark had an early morning doctor appt. (7:20 AM) - all is good and we later met John and Beth at Publix to buy the goodies for lunch (sub sandwiches, chips, grapes, cookies and little mini desserts). We drove to Cape Coral, met Vinnie and Laurie and right outside their door sits "Island Time". We boarded with our lunch and had a delightful trip - LOTS of boaters out on this Monday. We anchored out (could see Captiva in the distance) and enjoyed lunch, visiting and this lovely day. We also were treated to a lively show put on by the dolphins jumping all around us! Awesome!
Cape Coral is full of canals and it was so fun cruising past all the lovely homes and oohing and aahing. We got back to Vinnie and Laurie's home around 3:30, said our good byes and hope to get together this fall again. Great friends and so thankful that we got to enjoy their boat - made us giddy being on another "Catrina" and looking forward to seeing ours in late May.
John dropped us off in the Publix parking lot where we had left Big Red - more good bye hugs.....(maybe they'll come to Port Clinton this summer)???
We decided to stop at Bahama Breeze for some cold beverages and an appetizer (crab avocado stack - delicious). It was so busy at 4ish, but able to sit at the bar. On home with tons of traffic and keeping an eye on the radar as skies were looking ominous. We thought it had passed us, but along the way it started raining and luckily, we got inside Flo before the deluge came - oh my! Haven't seen rain like that in a very long time.
