Tuesday - July 11

Talked to Ryan briefly this morning as he was returning from his 4-mile run and then Mark and I were off to the Metro Center to pick up our senior passes (2-mile walk).    We stopped along the way at Lapidus for breakfast and enjoyed a nice leisurely walk, but it's hot!!!    Nice reprieve when the clouds cover that blazing sun!

We are not doing any attractions this trip as we'll do those when Mark's sisters come for a week August 2-9.

The Sam Rayburn Office Building
Ryan's workplace

Our nation's capitol

This was a sobering memorial of all fallen police officers across the country.   There was a book with each officer's name, date he/she died and state they were from.    Many wreaths surrounded this park on Judiciary Square commemorating a fallen officer.

So sad to wake up and read that 16 Marines died in the C-130 (same as Fat Albert) crash last night. twice as many as originally reported.

I walked this afternoon on Transportation Walk which is several blocks of nicely paved, tree-lined areas with park benches and other vegetation.     Love this whole Naval Yard community!

We are so close to the Nationals ballpark - would've loved to been here a few weeks ago when the Cubbies were in town.    Tonight is the All-Star game in Miami and the 2018 All-Star game will be played right here at Nationals Park.

Late afternoon we walked to Blue Jacket, Brewhouse for drinks and a delicious appetizer of fresh trout spread and chips.   I just love when old buildings are renovated and made into neat restaurants, shops, businesses, condos, etc.    This place (just 2 blocks from marina) was built in 1919 and served as a boiler plant for the Navy Yard and then in the 40's, converted to a munitions plant until 2010 when it was refurbished into a brewery - awesome!!!

Our little Princess - hands free!

2 Goobers (Slimeheads)

Speaking of Goobers....here are 3 more in Wisconsin where Patrick and the boys are vacationing (RV) at the Dells (Anne had to work - 😰).    Here's a little body art they had done today!

A nice evening on Catrina's bridge people watching, reading, etc.    Ryan was out with friends and then joined us for a good visit!    Sooo enjoying our time with him!
